This is the actual parking plate that they use with the van's front(nose/bonnet) pointing towards the M54. http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?q=priorslee&hl=en&ll=52.689572,-2.414804&spn=0.014307,0.038581&sll=53.852527,-4.042969&sspn=14.310144,39.506836&layer=c&cbll=52.689673... |

But again you are twisting the question and assuming the van is pointing in the opposite direction to the link that I supplied which is the direction the van aims his camera, i.e. in the direction of the junction where the not unnoticeable artic is pulling out...can you see it? not twisting anythin... |

I am asking about the suitability of the target used for alignment - in the field; indeed a few of us have been. Please re-read the question and try again. just to confirmthe crosshairs to red dot alignment and not TT Forget it Cam Op. This subject is obviously too complicated for a camera operator... |

At base station were you a similar distance from said sign as you were the vehicles against which you later enforced? not always no, well when you clarify what the question is then no it is not difficult, at base station we had a nice big square :30: sign Isn't an alignment done on site? :scratchch... |

Ok, I'll make it easier for you, instead of using the more lengthy procedure that Tim supply, we will use the simplified instructions that you gave and from that I refer to..... "3. at base station again at a predetermined point pt the device into TTmode, pan the red dot vertical and horizonta... |

To check the alignment the operator must select a suitable target. This target should have a straight vertical and horizontal edge, with nothing in the immediate background, preferably just sky. The operator, after selecting the tt mode, moves the LTI slowly from off the left or right side of the v... |

However, I’m still so very interested in the answer that greenshed gives. I think he also knows the answer but will be loathed to give it , especially for the UK models. What say you greenshed? ' Where are the speed camera men and their friendly responses? ' :D what question is that This one . Do y... |

mmmmm, I do wonder at the intelligence of camera partnership members (or ex ones) when you consider GS's Maths (In)ability and Cam Ops lack of joined up thinking. Perhaps he can enlighten us, as to what he might consider a suitable target for alignment, that he might use? I know what I would use bu... |

and just for the record the red dot is never aligned to the crosshairs, the cross hairs are aligned to the red dot, I think that it is pretty obvious to say, that once the red dot and cross hairs are aligned, that they can be said to be aligned WITH each other, regardless of which has to be moved T... |

I have to admit that I was surprised by Camera Operator’s answer, pleasantly surprised to boot. He is the very first operator I have ever come across who actually admits to knowing the correct way to align the red dot with the cross hairs , item 5. really well i will sleep happily tonight knowing t... |

Oh dear what arrogance to use the word NEVER, rarely I might just accept. But here is a challenge to Camera Operator describe in detail how the alignment checks, yes in the plural, are carried out, what you should see, what you should hear and any range reqquirements. These checks are the scope ali... |

It did change as part of the software upgrade a couple of years ago, but the general view is that it is an improvement as you don't lose the unread status when you log out. To get rid of the unread markers, simply go to "Board index" and click on "Mark forums read" at the top ri... |

Yes probably many more times than you have, especially as operators, including ex ones, are not allowed to adjust the scope alignment. meoww, as an ex operator there was never a reason to realign, purely and simply because they do not go out of alignment, althought the manual clearly states the pro... |

But to calibrate a speed gun, so that it gives accurate readings, is more difficult
Although thinking about it there is not a great deal of difference between annually and anally[/quote]
so you constantly say, have you ever realigned a sighting scope |

Interesting to hear from the HA that they don't gather this kind of information. Do Camera vans generally have two operators..? I can't honestly see the guy having enough time to jump out of his seat in the back of the van and get the numbers... and yes, TBH one of the plates might not quite have m... |
