Yeah spotted that link cheers, but I've also read conflicting reports about it being okay on the same axle etc and it actually not affecting insurance etc it's so damn confusing!! Could/should an average driver buying a second hand car be expected to know his tyres needed an "N" rating? I ...

I stopped posting here some time ago for reasons that would be inappropriate to go into now. However I was deeply saddened to learn of Paul's passing and the world is a poorer place without him. As many people have said I didn't agree with everything he said, but his honesty, integrity, and commitme...

A clear indication if ever there was one that there needs to be stronger regulation and more force to make sure the services provided are in the publics interest, not for some war intented to squeeze other operators out by flooding the market.

You would probably save money by finding a set of 14s or somewhere, though I realise that if you are trying to keep your Capri 100% original then this suggestion is probably offensive. No no its not offensive at all, some owners have gone for the 15s that were fitted to the Brookland special as the...

Whatever happened to 6 squeezed onto the back seat of a Ford Cortina?

How the hell did we all survive childhood? No wonder kids do daft stuff living in such a risk adverse society. Im glad Im not growing up now.

Really? I regularly exceed that speed within the UK and I do it legally. Yes but very few people as a percentage of the motoring population do track days, so if speed was the only factor and you were forced to do 70mph most people could get away with N rated tyres. Apparently I was told I should be...

Not Greystoke Castle by any chance was it? It was indeed! We did loads of other stuff like 4x4 driving, grass karting, musket firing and the like. I excelled in clay pigeon shooting for some reason. No idea why, didn't think it would be my thing but was hitting 'em nearly every time. Wasn't so good...

Completly by co-incidence I went quad-trekking today in the Lake District near Penrith - have to say its the most fun you can have with your clothes on! haha, well its my current favorite anyway! Felt bloody quick flying across rough terrain but checked the speedo and was only 30mph but felt m...

There are some superb lesser known brands of tyres, an excellent example being the Kumho Ecsta 712. Yep definately, Im a big fan of Kumhos. I used to get through a set of fronts every 3 months on my old van so could have fairly accurate comparisons and and the Kumhos outperformed Pirellis which wer...

Driving at 65mph in a car on a motorway is asking for trouble.

No its not. 65 is perfectly fine provided your not willfully holding others up and use the approriate lane.

I think drivers are getting totally the wrong message. We're saying: keep left except when overtaking. When we should be saying: make room for faster traffic to pass you. :yesyes: Absolutely agree. There is no point in having hard and fast rules about when you should or should not get into L1. If y...

I had a go on a road legal one recently....... so much fun, though having to drive on an NSL road to access the off-road course/field was rather daunting. Apparently they would have done 60mph+, but the road was quite narrow. And it had walls. I wasn't going to test that claim!

It's something I've noticed for a while - on quiet motorways I'm happy to drive at a much lower speed than on busier ones. Yeah I know where your coming from on that. 65 is a very difficult speed to drive at on a busy motorway, its a bit too fast for the inside lane, but is frequently too slow for ...

but that they would be in some circumstances expected to go more slowly and fail to meet the timetable to save fuel, and that the timetables might be extended... And incur a £60 per minute fine, plus £60 per minute any other train is delayed? I don't think so. Network Rail plan the timetables after...

How is it different to the sensible advice given to car drivers to plan ahead and avoid heavy late braking where possible? Obviously traffic lights and railway signals work in completely different ways but the principle of slowing down if following another train signal to signal in the desire to kee...

Its also more efficent. Vans are not usually used in a typical commute, by taking them home they can do jobs/deliveries on the normal route home, or the same on they way in. They can go straight to their first job, rather then going into work, picking up the van then setting out on their days work.

They don't. Even the programme admitted as such, albeit begrudgingly.

Even I was wincing a little at some of the statements made. There were some interesting points made, as mentioned the Newcastle system raised some important questions. Also the idea that the railways need a stronger central focus to make them more effective was very valid. Im not anti-privatisation ...
