| The real joke about this is the level of penalties possible. A £2,500 fine and 2 years in jail. Dis nobody involved with the drafting of this law stop to think how stupid this is? Situations alter cases. Here in London NW10 I'm more scared of mad cyclists than I am of muggers. There is a real probl... |

| Safe Speed issued the following PR at 09:12 this morning: PR298: Young drivers need faith and information ..... ........ ..... ...... ..... ....... ..... ...... * If .... * If .... * If .... etc. etc. I cannot agree with your overall argument. There are too many 'if's in it for it to stand scrutiny... |

Yes, certainly. And make them safer for everyone, not just for the people inside them.
A lot could be done to minimise impact-injuries to cyclists and pedestrians. |

| The suggestion that we should allow patients to bleed to death in the back of ambulances, while the paramedics dodder to the hospital at 30mph, is a suggestion I cannot accept. | Years ago a number used to be stamped on the frame, just under the saddle - has this stopped? That serial number is still there but it isn't easy to check; that does restrict its effectiveness. An always visible easy-to-read Registration Plate would be a more substantial anti-theft deterrent. It wo... |

| On cycle forums these idiots are known as 'stealth cyclists' .... they are (not) welcomed by cyclists in the main. I wouldn't class them either as 'idiots' or 'stealth cyclists'; the ones in London NW10 are 'Scum-on-stolen-bikes'. There are plainly two totally separate distinct populations of cycli... |

| In the sub-forum 'Improving Road Safety' there is a thread 'road tests for cyclists' : All cycles used on the road should carry a number plate, be subject to road tax, and have an MoT. | I generally have no probs with cyclists. However, they should obey the rules of the road in the same way as other road users have to. Quite so, Blademan. | What a ridiculous and intolerant comment. For a start, "drunks" and "people who have been drinking" are not at all the same thing. You can easily be well above the legal drink-driving limit without being remotely obnoxious to anyone. Surely in terms of overall road safety it is far better that peop... |
