| I may not have agreed with every single thing that Paul stood for, but I largely shared the same views as this campaigner for common sense, and have been greatly saddened by this news. I have great respect for Paul taking a stand, and my condolences go to his family and friends. One thing's for sure... |

| In the ideal world, speed limits would be set by traffic engineers working for an independent road body, rather than local government. Alternatively, or at the same time, make it so that speeding offences don't generate fines, just penalty points, and so the business of making money from speeding mo... |

| Wasn't the cyclist getting the desired effect of current road safety policy? His actions caused people to slow down, which is supposedly what the government want, and so his actions were far more effective than speed cameras and flashing signs. Of course, it's all about the money. Or that's what the... |

| It's stupid my local MP saying it, as very few cars will probably run on petrol in 2040 anyway. He's just blurting out hot air in his deep mumbly tone of voice. Leaded petrol has been banned. However, by the time that happened unleaded petrol had been readily available and used in new cars for well ... |

| To me, the human influence on climate change is like religion; you can't prove it, but you can't disprove it. And as climate change arguements are dividing nations, so has religion for thousands of years. Just don't be wasteful. I think the focus should be more on preserving finite natural resources... |

Some say breaking the speed limit is dangerous.
I'll put a 24/7 30mph speed limit on the whole of the M6 then.
I rest my case.
Speeding isn't dangerous when speed limits are set too low. |

| Parking in Southampton is getting ever more expensive recently, and will continue to do so. Southampton City Council multistoreys hiked their prices by around 30p per hour a few months ago, from 70p to £1. On-street parking can also be pricey, such as 80p for half an hour. A planning application has... |

| I've just read an article in today's Daily Mail about a new type of vandal resistant speed camera planned to be introduced to the UK, when I discovered something I didn't know. Changes to the rules mean speed cameras in the UK no longer have to be bright yellow, but can be painted to blend in with t... |

I remember an episode of Traffic Cops where the Police stopped a cyclist who was really drunk. They let him off, and just laughed at his drunkenness.
Imagine that happening with a motorist. |

| Yeah, you've got to watch out abroad, as they aren't so relaxed with regards genuine road safety. They will come down on you like a ton of bricks if you speed, but the speed limits are such that if you do break them you probably are going too fast. Drink drive limits are much stricter in Spain, and ... |

| I've said before, that there are quite a few cyclists out there who think they own the road and have no respect for other road users. If Cameron was acting responsibly, can I jump red lights when it's safe to do so? I think not, because when I'm a motorist, I can't be trusted. Then I put on my cycle... |

| I don't know why the premiums have to be so high anyway; it's not as if the insurance pays out fully. | I saw somewhere that the design speed of early German autobahns was 50mph. I've been on an early German autobahn at 125mph, but I didn't die. The design speed of British motorways is 75mph. That is why I break some speed limits, because they're stupid. |
