The usual victim of drunken cycling is the cyclist himself As is the usual victim of drunken driving (At least in the serious accidents), I am sure I read somewhere that around 70% of DD fatalities are actually the DD him/her self and/or, his/her, passangers (IE sort of willing participents). The e... |

Me, now I prefer the manual option I must say (And while being cautious about attempting to establish a trend based on only a single data point) I do find the aparrant corralation.. "Speed cam supporter=prefers dumbed down de-skilled (and less versitile) version" an interesting one! I won... |

My Neighbor has just come home in a hire car, it has one of these electric handbrakes that seem to be increasingly standard these days! She is Grumpy! She is Grumpy because it took her about ten minuits to park the damn thing! She needed to reverse into a confined space slightly down hill (In revers... |

The way I see the argument going is like this. Obviously (I expect) Were I to propose to whack Weep over the head with my "Clicky-Ba" he would prefer that I did so after he had put a helmet on. So in absolute terms, wearing a helmet is safer. However, we are not looking at a simple envirom... |

The fact is that a very small number of taxpayers pay the lion's share of the tax. We already have a very socialist redistributive compact in the U.K. It is also forgotton that the world is a far more mobile place than it used to be. Treat the wealthy "Unfairly" and it is very easy for th... |

Suppose that once a week, ten men go out for beer and the bill for all ten comes to £100. If they paid their bill the way we pay our taxes, it would go something like this.. The first four men (the poorest) would pay nothing. The fifth would pay £1. The sixth would pay £3. The seventh would pay £7. ... |

So lets extrapolate and make everyone go along the motorway at 20 mph. Actually, that is about the speed for maximum throughput, (which is why it is the speed that traffic tends towards as traffic load increaces.) Unfortunatly,it is unstable! A couple of MPH each way reduces throughput fairly signi... |

I;d ratehr get into a newish airbus than a 1930 Tiger Moth - even though I had the reassurance of knowig that all the controls on the Tiger Moth are operated by good, solid levers and bits of wire! Mind, it depends on the enviroment. Flying BA I'd agree with you, but if I was flying "Rwandan A... |

Seems to me that much of this was covered decades ago in Sci-Fi. Nobody will be allowed to "Own" an autonomous vehicle. You probabally will not even be allowed to use manual controll! The vehicles will remain the property (and the responsibility) of the manufactureor. "Users" wil... |

I find hairyness interesting from an evolutionary POV. (Particularly the ability to grow beards) It is NOT clear that it is nececarrily related to cold (I dont believe Inuit grow beards) I also find the modern habit of shaving intertesting. I suspect it goes rather deeper than just being more comfor... |

Cant remember the name of that strange Harrison Ford film about the Guy with a strange obsession about Ice... But he was right!
Ice (Or artificial cooling) is a sign of civilisation!
Any shaved monkey can keep warm in a cold enviroment! but keeping cool in a hot one!

Whilst it is true that there are some enviroments where lead based paints can be hazardous (Childen WERE poisened by chewing on their cots, but not that many!) it should be remembererd that the lead wasnt used just for fun!
There is a reason why modern paint is mostly crap! |

On any diesel engine High presure lines will always be steel! Even traditional systems operated at 2-3000 PSI CR systems operate at stageringly high pressures (30,000-40,000! comes to mind) (DONT tamper with them! being sprayed by fuel from a leaking CR system will likley kill you!) However, many ve... |
