| "A SpeedWatch site from Cambridge hints rather bitterly at local controversy, stating: "The purpose of this website is to explain the facts, rather than myths, about SpeedWatch, that is [SIC] operating in the Ramsey area, Cambridgeshire." How do you know the writers heart on this &quo... |

| We are looking at permanent signs, notifying GPS camera detector manufacturers so their data bases can be updated and the media when we will be out. Agreed, this is not perfect, but it’s far superior to speed humps and speeding tickets. There are areas we will not operate in at any time if there is ... |

| There is nothing wrong with filming yobs, it is quite legal using a camera in public, but you may need witnesses to add support and qualify what you are doing. The police should uphold the law, not make new ones :bluelight: I don't think anyone would disagree with that dcb, except GS and his BS. Wha... |

| No, I do not think this, as an advanced driving instructor working with drivers who have problems with posted speed limits, time and again the problem comes down to pressure to speed by tailgaters. When this gives the desired result, drivers speed. When one driver pressures another you start to crea... |

| 1+2/ From experience many drivers just like to see people out there making sense out of chaos. The vast majority of drivers seem happy to oblige when they understand what is going on. We experiment and will continue to trial ideas to see what works. 3/ At the moment the police use their own paid sta... |

| We are not doing the same to "motorists", we are engaged in an education program for those behaving anti-socially in residential communities with the most common violent killer – a motor vehicle :!: As I have stated, our group of maybe forty plus people carry out sessions where there are s... |

| Speedwatch has discretion in that they are volunteers. If they are in a 40 then it would be because it is residential, so a 50 is likely to be reported. At fifty the speedo will be 53 upwards so the driver should know better. We would not hold a check where the speed limit serves no sensible purpose... |

Here is a definitive answer: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-11755222
It would be nice to have a definitive answer as to whether Wilts have started basing prosecutions solely on CSW evidence, but we may never know. |

| Any prosecutions would be by the neighbourhood police, who can ticket four drivers per hour, leaving Speedwatch to report less serious offences. Sometimes Speedwatch and the police hold joint sessions. Speedwatch as noted previously does not prosecute - unless something has changed. On the BB... |

| No, we're in the country - bus stops are muddy lay-bys, no shelters, no shops, fast food is road kill - Tescos is ten minutes away, parked vehicles and we go home, it slows the rascals down :headbash: Frankly, where you have shops, parked cars etc., then speeding is more likely to be perceived throu... |

I also propose that we start another thread and discuss your organisation if you are willing ?
I'm happy to do that but would prefer questions are limited to allow me time to reply, not more than six or so a day. |

| I don't think the doppler efect need be a concern at over at these short ranges. A fast vehicle does not display until at about 40-50 mtrs. Also the mini sonic boom of a vehicle doing 90 is quite confirmative something ain't right. We have carried out checks when the police are present with lazer gu... |

Letters were issued, but as stated, our purpose is not to prosecute. The displays can read at some distance, considerably more than 20 mtrs.
i was under the impression that these radar devices would only have a short range maybe 20 metres max, they are not mounted as high as enforecment Gatso's |

| The device is programable in a number of ways, including recording speeds. I understand it records at one mile per hour under the ACPOs giudeline, i.e. it would indicate a driver doing 34 in a 30 and upwards, and in a 40 it would light up at 45. We do not record until 35 or 46 is reached. If the dri... |

| Hello, I was discussing Speedwatch, whose purpose is to educate, not prosecute. There is as you note nothing to prevent two witnesses provide evidence for prosecution (for speeding). Whether the courts except the evidence, or it even goes to court, is another matter. Even a police officers requires ... |

I have driven HGVs and enjoy fast cars and progressive driving. I’m mentioning this because I don’t want to bogged down that speedwatchers hate drivers or have... |

| Yes, where for example an uninsured driver is being picked up then that can result in an investigation. Speedwatch has bee involved in prosecution where dangerous driving has been witnessed and evidence recorded. Speedwatch letters do not result in prosecution, but may result in a visit by a police ... |
