I complained about a police car driving around with front fogs on when it was a perfectly clear night...

Duty Sergeant's reply was I don't know why he's got them on, it's really clear outside tonight... I'll put a notice up in the staff room to remind them.

Hehe, well to be honest, I think my bag might have caused an issue, with all the charger wires and electronics... It does seem like the metal detectors in the airport are 'button operated'... I.e. when the guards see someone they don't like the look of they press a button, setting the alarm off... T...

Just heard on the news there that if the government lose their appeal that the Home Office will amend the law... I've never been searched under the anti terrorism law, but I did get a full bag search at airport security when I was last going to London... I found it quite invasive, and I don't know w...

I noticed this in Canada. Although the timers were actually for the pedestrians, they still gave you the time until amber... Thought it was a neat 'by-product' of the crossings...

The government's powers under the Terrorism Act to stop and search people without grounds for suspicion are illegal, a European court has ruled. The European Court of Human Rights was giving its ruling in a case involving two people stopped near an arms fair in London in 2003. It said the pair's ri...

I'm with Claire on this one, (sorry if anyone else said the same) you'd be better holding back until you see that you can clear the junction, or at least move to a position where you won't be blocking the pedestrian crossing or other vehicles. As long as you've passed the line before the lights chan...

I wouldn't use it when driving through the city either, doing tight turns and stuff like that tends to mean no radio. I don't like using it on the motorway, higher speeds, really don't need/want to distract my attention as I'd most likely have less time to react to a hazard... I have been in the car...

I'm an Amateur radio operator... Used to use the fist mic (hand held) quite a bit in the evenings, while travelling home from the GF's house and stuff. Haven't used one in ages though. Wouldn't dream of using it in traffic, and I wouldn't use it on the motorway, or any fastish road (journey from her...

I've driven the following cars... A purple/bright blue Ka 1.3, 2001. It had about 50k on the clock and was still going fine. A black Ka, think it was about 2007, left it with about 35k on the clock... And currently drive a 1.6 SportKa SE, again around the 40k mark... Do you get the feeling I'm fond ...

I think this is related to the same issue. Can the police enforce a 20mph limit in this way? Are the 20mph signs that they use legal speed limit signs?

I work in the cash office in a shop and while the vast majority of fakes are quite obviously fake, the odd few are very very good, often undetectable with the counterfeit pen, uv light, or by looking at the other security features... It's a bit more complicated over here because we have 3 different ...

Firstly welcome to the site, and I think your best bet would be to get over to Pepipoo as chances are they will be able to give much better advice than most people here (I guess so anyway, they specialise in this). In my opinion you can't really contest the fact you were speeding, even if they only ...

Minding my own business waiting for the lights to change when I hear a loud bang down to my left, and my car (02 plate VX Omega...) starts rolling towards the car in front of me. Jump on the footbrake just in time to avoid a coming together of bumpers, reach down to check the handbrake lever and fi...

Its a sod to park as it is wide and you cant see the corners. It is nippy and grippy. I'll give you that one! Bay parking is grand, but parallel parking with no space is... Awkward shall we say :) Some places were quoting me 6500+ for my first years insurance. The thing that really annoys me is tha...

My first year insurance was £2600, fully comp in my own name, last year was £1600 and this year it's down to £1100, should hopefully be under the £1k mark this year :) I drive a 1.3l Ford Ka, they aren't the cheapest cars to insure which I find quite funny, I'll probably get the piss taken here but ...

Bump started a Transit minibus once... HARRRRD work. If you're jump starting with jump leads I would keep the astra engine running while you have it connected, just watch when you go to start the engine as an alternator has a lower internal resistance than a battery, so you end up with the alternato...

(snip) although in my experience they normally say "any vehicle not owned by you, with the owner's permission, yadda yadda". I have that bit too, this is just under the description of the vehicle. It says any one vehicle owned by the policy holder, leased to the policy holder under a leas...
