Just for starters - http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/210672.stm Often the people behind these sorts of things are acting on their opinion of what the issue is, not their experience or knowledge. Not unlike the 'Speed Kills' message and the people who call for speed cameras in a street 'before someone ...

I used to work with a guy who had 2 tanks fitted to his landrover, a big one for the red and a small one for the norm..fill the big one from inside. and looking from underneath the tank looks normal but with the top cut off.clever I thought. I suspect more people who do stuff like this get caught b...

Its a bit before Green Cross Man!) Nobody seems to do this anymore (Or so it seems  ) At m... |

Where has this actually happened? Birmingham & West Bromwich at least. I know this for a fact, as this is the area in which I live and have seen it first-hand with my own eyes. What has happened (links to documented evidence and not just heresay please) and how exactly has it affected you? Just...

Honestly, anyone would think you were trying to find things to be offended about! Hear here. I don't perceive the problems PaulAH and others are voicing their opinions so strongly against. In fact I see them shouting more than the people they claim are forcing opinions on them. Ohhh, the irony. I g...

It may not be a lifestyle that, as heterosexuals, we find attractive, but that doesn't make it "wrong". I do find this "it ain't natural, so it shouldn't be allowed" attitude very, very tiresome... And it doesn't make being told that we must embrace it "right" either. ...

No, if you're flamed, it'll probably be for being a narrow-minded reactionary racist bastard. So you're calling me a "narrow-minded reactionary racist bastard" because I object to my national identity being eroded, my country becoming over-populated etc etc etc? I worded that post quite c...

Elton John, Graham Norton are typical examples of those who are glamourised simply for the very fact that they are overtly homosexual. I couldn't disagree more; Norton and Elton are both highly established and popular personalites in their field because they have an outstanding ability to entertain...

I am racist in that I believe that those coming to live in this country should integrate into our ways and traditions and not de... |

keni, I live near a marina on the River Thames, where diesel is sold for around 45p/litre. Not sure what the petrol price is, but I'm sure it's lower than the road price. If you have a marine facility near you, could you buy your fuel there to escape road duty? That seems to be the one thing that C...

As regards the mechanics of filling it, you could easily tap into the gas feed to the house in an unobtrusive way in order to extract the fuel. In fact, even if you were to do so blatantly, what could anyone do about it? I can't see it being illegal simply to own the correct gear for filling your c...

I suppose the crux of the problem is that people just don't trust the authorities not to be up to some sneaky money-making scam (I wonder why). They are probably fully aware that the posted limit is actually 60, but think something along the lines of " Well they wouldn't put a camera on a safe...

It seems a conversion costs £1000-£1500, so it seems like a 12 month payback before you actually save any money. (Less the additional costs incurred by the extra mileage you'd inevitably do once fuel became "cheap"). Yes, I did the numbers and came up with a similar figure. Still, a 12 mo...

| i like it best when i park up around 300m after a fixed camera, they all slow down for the lines then floor it as soon as they are clear then argue they did not know the limit I reckon a lot of the time they probably don't! | Well I have an LPG tank in my back garden, and consume about 3,000 litres a year to heat the house. Now if my consumption were to double then yes it might seem a bit suspicious, but in reality who would do anything about it? I know for a fact that a larger and less insulated house down the road has... |

The bloody great LPG storage tank in the back garden might be their first clue. Delivery levels of gas that couildn't possibly be utilised by heatibg/cooking alone and no books to show trading in LPG would lead to suspiscions - as would having an LPG pump to do the refueling of the vehicle. Or are ...

Am I right in thinking you have to pay fuel duty for any fuel you use on the road? Yes. See the link I posted above for the tax rates. Vegetable oil is classed as Biodiesel. Note the amount of tax on "marked heavy oil..." (red diesel) compared to 'carbon neutral' vegetable oil... It's cra...
