Cheaper to park illegally than it is to use a car park?

Only in a council run by tree hugging cyclists...

I recently added my mobile phone to the TPS service - my landline has been registered for some time now and I can't recall the last time I had a cold call on it. You should never send "STOP" text replies to these :censored: - it lets them know that the random diallers they use have hit a '...

Regarding the make shift skid pan - what a shame that the local Council isn't encouraging some use for some wasteland somewhere, clearly they are going to be some of the safest drivers on the road if they happen to skid as they will be instinctively controlling their vehicles (potentially) perfectl...

2 . Number of times I have had to take avoiding action while on a roundabout when a driver joining has just ignored the 'give way to traffic' rule completely. There seems to be a breed of driver who learned to drive on the continent, where the give way to traffic joining the R/A is the rule in some...

It's not so much the fact they were out so soon, which was pretty predictable, it's that he'll be lining his pockets "advising" a green energy company, which is going to be raking in huge profits by way of increased energy costs, that you and I will have no real choice but to pay, that gri...

So the sandal wearing, bike hugging, car hating council in Cambridge are driving forward a 20mph city wide limit, all in the name of reducing accidents and pollution. Driving at 20mph improves traffic flow? What traffic flow? They are determined to drive the car out of Cambridge step by step. I expe...

Just another example of 'corporate' babble - plain old English will not do if they can dress up a title or task in some ridiculous alternate title.

Someone is paid to think these up...

Thanks for the replies - Dougman, I've found out there is a sign fitting the description you posted at the 40 to 30 limit point. " Regular drivers might not at first realise that the speed limit has changed; they might not notice that the speed limit signs have been removed ." Would Mr Plo...

Ahh, yes - the 4x4 drivers who think that their all season road tyres will get them out of that muddy field or along that icy lane! I was 'daft' enough to take the car with Nokians fitted down some roads a couple of years ago, that had 6-8 inches of snow to get the feel for how they handled - ...

My local council had the brainwave to increase the charge for using it's car parks from 60p for one hour to £1.20 for two hours. There is already the option to park for two hours at a charge of £1.20 but some bright spark thought by removing the option to park for one hour would increase footfall on...

I am a firm advocate of winter tyres. A few years ago I invested in a set of Weissenfels Snowsocks for the car, due to travelling regularly up to Cumbria in the winter. They made such a huge difference in the snow and ice, I then researched winter tyres and ended up getting a set of Nokian WR G2s. I...

As the temporary one way stop/go traffic control was diverting traffic around the point where the new 30 limit sign is now, I am hoping that they were actually in the process of putting it up.... (coincidently, there were some road works taking place at the old 30 location - ripping old one out as n...

Don't know if this is the correct place for this... I often drive into Cambridge from the A14 along Huntingdon Road past Girton. I last drove into the city about 2 or 3 weeks ago. The length of Huntingdon Road from the end of the dual carriageway, adjacent to Cambridge University Farm/Girton College...
