I'm surprised it isn't a 16mph limit, after all NS wants to play 'we'll ban ICE only cars even earlier' so why not even lower speed limits? |

The speed limit on the Sheppy bridge is going to be increased back to 70mph http://www.kentonline.co.uk/sheerness/news/bridge-speed-limit-to-return-117372/ Though they are going to put average speed cameras on it to enforce the 70mph limit and do not mention what the speeds were recorded when it was... |

I've got a simple cure- when I turn left,at a two lane junction I always get as close as possible to pavement .Not to upset the proper cyclist ( who usually knows why), but to stop the idiots that flash down the inside .If they want to go round me on the inside, they'll have to ride on the pavement... |

You rather have your body have to deal with 40,500 joules of kinetic energy (1000kg car at 20mph) than 3,700 (92kg of person and bike at 20mph)? Really? You are being quite charitable there, most average cars seem to weight more like 1400 to 1600kg. I'm not Superman so would not be attempting to br... |

Your example makes no sense as 50 people would be clearly visible to both cyclist and driver and they would both stop or would not be on the pavement in the first place, well not the driver at least unless it is a deliberate act of aggression. It is far more likely that both would hit a single or s... |

On the subject of physics, the bike's weight is not that relevant if a 80Kg rider is on it and hits you at 20mph, what is more important is all of the pointy bits. Being hit at 20mph by a cyclist may be more dangerous than by a car as the car has been built with rounded surfaces designed to minimis... |

Neither are drivers. Which is worse in your eyes though, cycling along a pavement, or driving along it? It depends what or who else is on the pavement, both are bad if there are pedestrians using it or able to enter it quicker than you can stop. I don't particularly approve of cyclists habitually u... |

It's an important point, not trolling! People do all sorts of stupid things, not car drivers, not cyclists, people... There is certainly some poor driving in there, but I'm a little confused as to why you think they were all also cyclists? I know some cyclists habitually use the pavements, I have o... |

On Wednesday I overtook a truck on a nice long, flat and junction free straight, as I pulled out I spotted the van in the lay-by at the far end of the straight. Now I know I did not exceed the limit, there was no need to, and couldn't help but think how typical it was to put a van somewhere that dri... |

Looks like the cabs indicator came on a bit late, even so passing at a junction is a classic beginners mistake on the part of the cyclist. |

Would probably work better if it used the brakes as well as the engine to slow down. I envision a pedestrian safety harness, it has a complex of sensors and restraints that automatically stop a pedestrian stepping into the road when there is an oncoming vehicle. Additional features could be added to... |

At least you will be going slower when you (not you personally of course) hit something so the statistics will show it is safer. |
