I'm very sad to hear of Paul's death. The world has lost truly a giant among men and truly a giant in road safety.

My deepest condolences to Claire and Paul's family.

Seems like a bit of a climb down from the "speed cameras solve everything policy", and he didn't resort to slagging Paul off. What can be in the figures I wonder?

You need to respond to the NIP whether you think you have commited an offence or not otherwise you will be charged with not identifying the driver (known as S172 offence). An S172 offence is taken more seriously by insurance companies and will put your premiums up more. Before you do anything go to ...

MIAOUW? What's that?

The best he could do was attack Safespeed rather than address the DfT's incompetence.

Hi Anton

Would that be the tacho case we know of in another place by any chance?

[Many thanks to all for your congratulatory messages! increased costs in future by always taking any speeding allegation to court. It occurs to me that, if the process of prosecution is made as difficult - and as expensive - as possible for the safety camera partnerships (and especially if fewer an...

What's the point though, if all the council do is post a fine to the registered keeper of that number plate, who is probably totally innocent? In my area every point, the local authority will tow away untaxed cars parked on the public highway. They don't bother with the fine in the post rigmarole a...

I'm still in favour of the tax disc as the local chavs drive round our estate at 70 mph untaxed, uninsured, and unlicensed. The out of date tax disc is a dead giveaway when they park up. There's one parked up in the lay-by at the side of my house now, the tax runs out at the end of June, as soon as ...

OK I'll have a go. I've already written to my MP about the lies told in the DfT fourth year report. If I get a favourable reply I'll ask him to ask which groups Ladyman had in mind. Might take awhile though as it states on his website they won't answer queries by email FOR SECURITY REASONS! Anyone g...

Superb interview Paul. more than made up for the fact that the presenter let the Brake spokesperson get away with a load of the usual emotive claptrap.

They have just put a speed activated sign on a dual carriageway (40 mph speed limit) near my home. I will be observing driver behaviour with interest.

Just what was going through my mind! What about the distraction of looking for talivans and checking your speedo more frequently than you otherwise would have done due to their non-adherence of the ACPO guidelines? Pity there is no forum to comment on this site to stir things up!

Paul, I don't think you can put a figure on it. If you want to "make progres" safely I don't think there is any substitute for extra training.

Good idea Les, but to be effective they need to be distributed nationally, very hard to achieve. What really sems to get the scameraships cranking up the spin machine is any negative publicity in the national media. After a lot of effort Paul is managing to achieve this.
