The Fabians, a school of thought to which Tony Blair and many other Labour 'leading lights' subscribe, bases its tactics for political change around 'evolution, not revolution'. In essence, this is the death of democracy/freedom by a thousand cuts. Consider a frog (or other cold blooded amphibian) ...

Only just seen it. The road to hell really is paved with good intentions. Why why why are we putting up with the way things are going? Why? Now there is the 64,000 Dollar question. Don't have an answer and that's almost as frustrating as what going on. Don't believe any of the main politico parties...

Judging by the mighty lack of response to this post, it would seem that apathy is alive and well. As one of my old bosses used to say, (Lord rest his soul) : "Just because you're paranoid doesn't mean they're not out to get you".

Not really on-topic but related(ish). Can anyone see the logic of Eurotunnel allocating a separate boarding lane for vehicles carrying Disabled Drivers and allowing them to board first ? After all, they are driving onto, and off, the train, not walking or whatever, so why the preference ? Always str...

Surely all those cameras aimed at oncoming traffic are discriminatory ? Motorcycles don't require front number plates and thus many riders just safely ignore them.

PH does attract some scary folk. Sometimes wonder if they're real/genuine or just having a laugh. However, there are some really good people on there also. Some of the USA forums are truly sillyand scary. Try looking at anti-rice for instance. Good ole boy, "mine's faster than yours" stuff...

While wading through THIS I read the item below. "European Greener Car Tax Plan: A report to the European Parliament’s economic affairs committee seeks to increase the environmental effectiveness of car taxation. The report is expected to follow a draft Directive from last summer, in which the...

CO2 is sparingly soluble in water. The colder the water, the more CO2 will dissolve. If you warm water with CO2 dissolved in it, the CO2 will leave solution and return to the atmosphere. A simple example of this phenomenon is to leave an open can of Coke or Pepsi in your car on a warm day for an ho...

My thoughts are with the poor driver and any passengers in the car. The driver has to live with this idiot's death every day for the rest of their life. They will always be wondering if they could have done more to avoid it. That, for me, is the real and ignored tragedy here.

On the same note, I'm surprised no one has posted this yet: or this The truth is out, science has nothing to do with it! Pulled some stats off t'interwb that show that at the last General Election the Parties % shares of the vote were : LAB = 35.2, CON = 32.3, LIB DEM = 22, Others = 10.5. But - turnout was only 61.4%. You can figure out your own other stats. These votes gave the following % of Parliament seats to the ...

But that dosen't stop the science behind AGW being accurate. It can't be accurate. We haven't had accurate enough instruments to measure global temperature precicely enough for that long. The models and theories are based on what we THINK we know and for all we know we could be a million miles adri...

 How about a system that takes into account the actually number of votes each MP received in his constituency ? So, instead of each MP have equal voting "weight" : one MP = one vote, as now, each MP would have the number of votes to cast as he received at his election and the result ...

Thus.. it is still - as siad umpteen times over on this board - [i] attitudesand skill development /i] which need to be an integral and continuous part of using our roads - and we have to be brutally honest with any self-assessment of ourselves too. And why, referring to another news story o...

I would never, ever drive a car that has ISA attached and I wouldn't ride a bike with ISA on it. In both instances it has the potential to kill due to being unable to accelerate out of danger. Can anyone give me ideas of countries to emigrate where there isn't a 4 year waiting list? Try Scotland. L...

My 'local' is the Live and Let Live in Stanway, Colchester - one of two pubs in the Country so-named. The Landlord is building a shelter for smokers outside in preparation for the final ban. ostensibly on the grounds of safety (that removing the toll will increase traffic locally above the route's capacity) What twaddle. If anything it would improve the congestion around the area as vehicles will not be constantly stopping. This would also benefit the A2 and associated roads through Da...
