Much as I do sympathise with her as service stations should provide free parking for nappers as they do toilets for everyone, I wonder why she's attempting to do such a long journey between two cities well served with public transport between them. There's a fast train service, a sleeper service or ...

Hi, thanks for the replies. I figured that I couldn't use that in defence since I wasn't even aware of the car indicating right, but yes, I would be equally careful to make sure drivers coming on the last exit were aware. However I imagine the highway code puts the u-turner in the right in the event...

I'll admit haven't been feeling well just lately, and my eyes have been sore, which perhaps didn't help my concentration. Earlier today I was approaching a mini-roundabout on a T junction layout, with me approaching from the left of the T. There was a stationary car waiting for the roundabout to cle...

No offence but how could someone believably doctor traffic lights without thousands of people daily noticing the lack of an amber stage? I reckon if those lights were installed in any of our cities they'd be an accident in minutes.

The incriminating photo must take a picture of the signals to prove they were red. So to answer both your questions, no. However the advice to go at a speed at which you're prepared to stop if the lights change, especially if they've been on green for a while, applies whether or not the lights are e...

I'd be scared to turn off the engine every time I stop in case the battery goes flat! Caught me out once at 3am after I'd done a fair bit of stop start driving 3 days before... What next, cameras that zoom in on exhaust pipes to check for fumes after a few minutes? So, they admit that they are using...

I noticed specs cameras monitoring a 30mph limit in Nottingham. What is the purpose of this article?

My advice - keep calm. Do not break the law or compromise any safety for yourselves. Hypothetical situation for you..... Two lane carriageway....40mph limit....left hand lane moderately populated.....I'm in the outside plodding along at 45......you come up behind at a fair rate of knots with the bl...

Cheers for encouragement. I'm still driving to Witham everyday, a 15 mile return trip which I can easily handle, although the traffic at either end is frustrating. I'm aiming to drive with a more relaxed attitude, as having watched some you-tube videos by driving instructors it does seem that I even...

Guess I pass everywhere but London, Nottingham and Leicester then ;)

I was not aware of that I was about to enter a box junction until I was in it. If the markings were so faded you couldn't see them then you have a defence. If they were clear but you didn't see them, the problem is of your own making. Thanks for the intelligent input. Also interesting is that the b...

Only a £30 FPN for potentially denying them at least £60 from ANPR-enforced offences?

I would contend that you didn't "find yourself in a box junction" but rather entered the junction without ascertaining that your exit was clear. I was not aware of that I was about to enter a box junction until I was in it. (although it wasn't actually for stalling really was it) Yes to b...

Two weeks ago, driving in London I stopped in a queue for some traffic lights. Stupidly I left the car in third gear, and so stalled it when attempting to move off. Naturally being in London I was bibbed at and two cars pushed in front of me. Once I restarted the engine I pulled off rather quickly t...

The main problem with mini roundabouts is that the majority of drivers do not or will not treat them as a 'roundabout' where they have to drive very slowly, perhaps that alone is reason enough to get rid of them. The incapability of the majority to use them correctly along with those who dont care ...

I'll admit to being an inexperienced driver, only been driving since February. I've always hated mini-roundabouts, from being a pedestrian and being confused by them when I was younger, to being a cyclist and finding a particular MR junction to be pretty much a blind junction, and now as a driver, t...

Trams are shit. They have all the disadvantages of a bus (subject to congestion, having to deal with idiot drivers, having to avoid idiot pedestrians), subject to low speed limits in the city. Funny, my experience with trams is that they usually go on congestion avoiding routes and stop all other t...

Why should fines be means-tested when road taxes aren't? A fine is a punishment, road taxes pay a contribution towards the costs of motoring, the remaining costs subsidised from other taxes for the good of the economy. I've always believed that means testing was a good thing. But at the end of the ...

What is it with you car drivers that you don't understand that when I have entered a roundabout and you are approaching it too, from my left, you enter the island without scrubbing off speed and going over the white line without the faintest idea that I DON'T KNOW IF YOU HAVE SEEN ME AND ARE GOING ...
