you're instructor is right about doing the test on a geared bike. otherwise you'll be stuck with twist and goes. On that note i rode a nice twist n go aprilia 800cc bike the other day which was fun. I agree on the geared bike but they are not for everyone. I know riders who just can't get on with g...

dieselmoment sir, has you were looking at the Honda web site in the Scooter Department, make sure you look at the Innova 125, or what ever it is called. I have to say that as scooters go I am a big fan of the Honda range of twist-n-go bikes. Build quality and spares availibility are second to none....

A 3.7 kW·h battery takes about 7KW-h to charge (including losses) from flat. at 1.5KW thats just over 4.5 hours. There are other problems with the performance claims. 1) "continuous" power is stated as 7Kw. That will give to 30 mins of running time on a full charge to flat. That is less po...

I'm rather dubious of the 20p per charge. They may be assuming you'll be using an off peak tariff too. Whats the battery capacity? I'd also not expect more than half the quoted lifespan from the batteries either. 3.7 kW·h capacity would charge at about 50% efficiency so thats about the same as runn...

Well Gizmo, I've read some of your posts, and it becomes clear to me that you don't like change. You don't like or trust development of alternative methods of propulsion, and you don't like anything new. You dismiss man made climate change out of hand for no better a reason than it does not accord ...

How good is a cheap 125? What is the top speed and acceleration like? The Vectrix claims a top speed of 62mph, and 0-50 in 6.8 sec. The operative word is "claim" They are too new into the market to get a good view on reliability and performance. The battery is NiMH and claims 10 years and...

Another sermon on protective clothing................Yawn! I ride helmet free when ever its legal (and that is about 22 states in the us). My choice... But thats what motorcycling is all about ..... freedom of choice. As far as "picking up the bill" go into casualty at the week end and you...

[quote="Familyman"As an alternative I was also looking at a cheap 125 on ebay, brand new on the road with 12 month warranty for £699[/quote]

I'd go for the 125. The 3K you will save on the purchase price will pay for 60,000 miles of fuel.

I do the same Gizmo, U-Turns and slow manouvers, but the impression I got from my friend was a blanket "don't use the front brake below 5mph". The only thing I can think of is that if you don't de-clutch you are less likely to lock up the rear wheel because if you do you would have to sta...

I say bring it on. It will at the very least bring this whole carbon scam to a head. The majority of the public do not believe in man made global warming. This will prompt the backlash we have all been waiting for. "it's easy for everyone to understand, you all get the same carbon ration."...

I dump a can of WD40 over any bare metal and leave it to soak in. It usualy brings it up a treat. I then use wash-n-wax in warm water applied using of those pressurised garden sprayers to drill through the grime.. Finnish off with a paint brush in the same solution in those tight spots. Then once ag...

WTF are they teaching today?!!! In his own words, "I don't use the front brake under about 5 mph because you could lock it up". I was always told to use the rear brake at low speeds because it alowes for much easier turning. I have always found this to be true. If I am riding at walking p...

The day I feel compelled to start driving in an "economical" way is the day I will hang up my keys. If fuel was double what it is now I would still drive the same. If you need to save money buy one of the cheap jack sh*t minis that are on the market. You can even lease them for less than £...

The procedure I was told when I passed my test was as follows. When stationary have the left foot down and the right foot on the brake. This is the same as having the hand brake on in a car (sort of) When you are about to pull away put your right foot down, use your clutch to put the bike into first...

When they introduced parking charges where my wife worked as a nurse at a local hospital (wiping out her pay rise) it was the last straw and she quit. She now works at a local school! Free parking and NHS's loss! Many Nurses parked on a local housing estate and walked to work from there. Not good fo...

It does seem ironic that to punish somebody for parking in the wrong place you slash the tyres.....hence making it impossible to move. Not difficult to locate the culprits though.....just ask the owner of the no parking sign. An easy way to catch them would be to rig a car with a video camera and pa...
