Sink or swim! Throw them in at the deep end! Compulsory driving on the M25, Friday late afternoon/early evening. Those that survive will never drive again! |

Did I mention the 15 miles of the A14 Cambridge, which has been under "repair" and "construction" for so long that they even google maps shows it, and that map is from 5 years ago....sod me, they've even re-painted the av speed camera poles twice...40mph over 3 lanes/2 lanes etc.... |

It was intended as a threat to force a funding increase. After the local referendum to increase the police precept on council tax (needed because the necessary increase would have meant that the annual council tax rise would have breached the referendum lock), said referendum being very VERY roundly... |

They're not mandatory, so why bother driving on the "road" if the cycle lane is unoccupied? |

And my local council, run by an elected mayor [mare] has decided to increase the number of average speed camera equipped roads. The A421 (M1 to A1 link section) has become an accident black road (since it carries a LOT of traffic, it is no surprise) and the clarion-call is for "speed cameras&qu... |

If the cycle lane is not edged with a sold line, ignore it. That's what I do locally. Few cyclists use the lane anyway, they use the pavement. |

Because young people won't do the job. Simple. As for old drivers being worse than young: "Young drivers (17-24 years old) are at a much higher risk of crashing than older drivers. Drivers aged 17-19 only make up 1.5% of UK licence holders, but are involved in 12% of fatal and serious crashes. ... |

A bus lane camera locally, at New Cardington, Beds, raises over £250,000 a year. To be precise, drivers going through the bus lane pay that in fines! The reason being that the bus lane used to be the A600, which was rerouted for a new village. Nobody bothers to update their satnavs though. The bus l... |

In an average month 440 fines are issued for bus lane violation at Shortstown, Bedfordshire. At 60 quid a throw, that's over 26 thousand pounds. If they used the already existing, but lowered, hydraulic barrier, they would be sgort of over a quarter million each year! |

It all shows a lack of knowledge about the current test procedure. Currently only one in three test candidates will do a three point turn (and it isn't called that anyway). A driver who is going to be required to do the (turn the car around using forward/reverse gears with proper control/signalling/... |

I have one, bought off ebay (13 quid) that features on/off audio. It is the visible part of the two-part system...the other being my iphone in memo-record mode.
