Hello there everybody, LTNS! Hope everybody is well. Just thought I'd regale you with a little story that has led to some current misery for me. About a month ago I was riding my motorcycle along a main road in London. It was a clear dry day, though it was a road I was unfamiliar with. My speed was ...

It's terrible the way the high cost of motoring and traffic laws "discourage" driving... But you have to regulate motoring, and mandate insurance, as you can cause so much more damage with a motorised vehicle than with a bicycle. Makes me wonder where they draw the line over how much poten...

Why is it that any initiative to improve standards and safety on the roads that cyclists don't like gets hysterically decried as "discouraging cycling"? If people won't cycle because they are prevented from doing so badly or dangerously then these are exactly the sort of people who we acti...

Clearly when the oblivious cyclist breezes through a red and causes a multi vehicle pile-up as drivers swerve to avoid him it's ok, because he's only small and light and so can only hurt himself, right? I'd remind you that green means "proceed with caution". As for him possibly causing a ...

Had this been a car driver ,driving with no hands on wheel ,and defective brakes , no doubt we hear screaming and wailing to have this idiot incarcerated .But as it's a cyclist - it's ok Can't you see the difference? Let me guess, the car driver is in a bigger heavier vehicle? Clearly when the obli...

Your wording betrays your bias Greenshed; you quote the report authors in their description "sleep related", but then take it upon yourself to categorise "due to speed". As you're still surfaced, would you care to address some of the other points you're currently avoiding, or whe...

I can use search! ...prosecutions have resulted from the evidence of CSW volunteers... No such cases have been identified. So Greenshed, what say you? EDIT: Hahaha, just found this little gem in the same thread: ...I look forward to considering your submissions on this but please restrict them to fa...

Certainly enforcing tailgating and lane discipline would do far more to reduce motorway journey times and improve safety, and would be a far better use of resources, than rigidly enforcing a long-overdue limit increase.

You chaps have a lot to learn about the law and the...technical Ah dear chap, here is where we differ so greatly! Most of us here are aware that our knowledge is incomplete and strive to improve it, to do otherwise is the height of arrogance. If information surfaces that causes us to have to readju...

Stands by for another interpretation of the point so mine can be shown to be incorrect or not answering your very clear question Interpretation? I was merely asking for information. The fact that in the past you have lied outright in the face of such requests may or may not be relevant to readers h...

It is different in about 99.9% of cases. As long as it does not differ by more than 10% either way that's fine. The primary speed is what counts and is used in evidence, the secondary check is....well.......secondary. "Fine"? Fine how exactly? That's a pretty significant MoE for a suppose...

Hey Greenshed, as you've surfaced, would you care to address any of the points you've been dodging? How about a case where someone was convicted of speeding based solely on the evidence of civilian CSW members? You did say one or more existed, were you lying? Not really no. I don't recall saying on...

How does this system compensate for changing speed? See the answer I gave some moments ago. :readit: I did, care to answer some more!? The answer you gave indicates that in the case of an accelerating/decelerating vehicle, the speed returned is going to be the average over the interval of the two s...

My view is that a regime which forced a lot of people to become pedestrians, cyclists and public transport users, and made it well-nigh impossible for them ever to learn to drive, would in fact result in more road casualties overall. Could you please outline the logical steps you have taken in comi...

It is of course possible to be a natural pilot, but this means you'll pass the required tests more easily, so I'm not sure how you think academic ability plays any part. Are you saying that you could be a natural, pass the tests, but then behave like an imbecile afterwards? We sure do see plenty of ...

Personally I'm all for testing the thick off the roads; driving is a privilege and not a right, and if people aren't sharp enough to do it in something approximating the best manner they can then they have no business being out there. Certainly the allusions to WWII fighter pilots is a massive red h...

Yes, I wonder if there will be any recompense for increased insurance premiums, loss of employment/livelihood etc.
