I saw him as well. It was just before the rain and I was doing between 70/80 in the outside lane and didn't notice him until I was on top of him. In that I had seen a van under the bridge but had come to the conclusion it had broken down, then getting in a position to read its sides I braked and loo...

Having just got back in the saddle after not driving an HGV1 since 1983, I paid for an assessment at the local HGV training school. At the reversing exercise my tutor told me not to be afraid to get out and have a look, make sure the vehicle is in or going into the correct position. Shunt back and f...

I don't see how any other parameter could be more important that gravel is left strewn all over bends, roundabouts etc. Luckily on a motorbike you can smell the new laid surface just before you reach it, but that is hardly a substitute for not rolling the gravel into the surface and then brushing of...

"I haven't noticed anything wrong with the grip around here, does that mean "reports indicate that Bedfordshire appears to be immune from the low grip problem"?" I have in Kempston. Hillgrounds road in particular has been exceptionally black and slippy, even while attempting to walk across it.Whilst...

Quite, I think the whole of her conclusion vis a vis the crash and cameras was completly confused. She didn't come to any positive decision about a cameras ability to have saved her life one way or another. I'm sure the family was put in the programme just to give a " human interest" side to the sto...

Beautifully and succinctly put. The image of driving 368 feet with your eyes closed is just a superb use of statistics....it is true but not true at the same time.
Just like jokes, why can I never remember stuff like this when I need to?

Isn't a dual carriageway automatically a 70 limit, even with lamp posts? If this is the case then there should be 30 mph repeaters along the length of the road.

I was given a verbal NIP by the side of the road. The officer told me I would be reported to the CPS and gave me a producer. I WAS going over the posted limit but had no idea by how much so I pleaded guilty. What should I have done to try and fight the prosecution and how could I have proven I wasn'...

Every working day I ride through through the 3 50 mph limits on the M1 near Luton. Since my prosecution mentioned in the previous post I pass through roadworks sticking assiduously to the posted limits. The dangerous parts are slowing from 70 plus in the outside lane to down to 50 and trying to get ...

I was stoped for "averaging" 70mph in the Chiswick flyover 40mph limit section of the M4 last November. Eventually fined £300 and 6 points in May. Believe me, the waiting for the summons for nearly six months was punishment enough.

I'm sure this must have been a previous subject, but could someone please tell me the reason the A 13 from the Blackwall tunnel out towards Essex is now a 40 limit? I was very nearly a bike/ lorry sandwich in which I was the meat. Three of us trying desperately not to break the limit but not wanting...

Volcanoes, methane release from the ocean floor, organic matter breakdown etc. have no effect either I suppose. What self-righteous clap-trap. To think I used to believe this ....stuff.

If you've ever been behind a diesel vehicle on a motorcycle whether car,bus or truck, you'll know diesel is the dirtiest fuel going, especially if it's raining and the fumes are aerosoled into droplets. I used to end a day on the circuit in central London looking like I'd finished a day at the coal ...
