TfL wants: a civil offence for drivers to encroach into advanced stop line (ASL) boxes when a traffic signal is red decrimininalise mandatory cycle lane infringements (so they'd become a civil offence?) More cameras and more kerching by the looks of it. It is clear that TfL have an agenda - as one o...

Even the length of time someone has been driving or the distances they've covered doesn't necessarily prove much. When my former employer moved out of the city centre a lot more colleagues had to drive. Two middle aged ladies each had to do a 20 mile round trip every day (mainly on busy urban M-way)...

And just in case we thought it couldn't get any worse... The justification of town centre parking fees can be blamed on lax planning laws decades ago. Councils were, initially, forced to introduce some sort of control is because in the sixties and seventies every town got one or more high rise office blocks that had little or no parking. Most of the staff...

It's all got completely out of hand, and thrown up some crazy rules that no democracy should allow but we just seem to put up with it all. Two examples: In Richmond the council fee for on street parking permits are based not on a vehicles physical size but it emissions. So a permit for your VW Polo ...

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-22867081 As featured on Panorama last night, it looked into the eye popping amounts of cash being generated by local councils by fining drivers for minor moving traffic offences. At the moment councils outside London can only cash in on bus lanes, whereas London borough...

Unlike some, this lady intends to do more than ineffectually punching a keyboard: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-wiltshire-11029964 Another classic Non sequitur. Not dissimilar to http://www.safespeed.org.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=22931 There is a gulf of difference between putting a c...

Yes, "Think Bike" posters are all over the place here as well. However, I believe that they should replace them with "Bikers, Think What You are Doing" posters. .......... Most accidents are "single vehicle" with inexperienced riders just coming off. The figures in: In...

Instead of "Was the car over the limit?" the issue should be "Was it dangerous?" This would go a long way to satisfy the complaint that limits are being set inappropriately low in a lot of places. After a tragic fatal accident (where inappropriate or excessive speed played no pa...

ask any copper when was the last time he booked anyone for a 'witness' dangerous or careless offence and the returnI I guarantee would be 'NIL' return. Ah so I imagined being pulled over on the A34 Wilmslow bypass a couple of years ago - though to be fair I only got threatened with a due care. Oh a...

To be fair to 'Britain's Top Traffic Police Officer' (BBC's description) didn't actually say he "fears speed camera cut risks lives" That was the BBC's header for the piece on the TV news and the headline online. They went on to show an interview with him where he expressed concern that un...

What is the scientific basis for the 85% rule? Not scientific but consider the A515 limit reduction (now 18 miles of 50mph) of a couple of years ago, and section 34 in a document I download from the DCC website: Derbyshire County Council Meeting of Cabinet Member – Environmental Services 13 Septemb...

Why assume that people cannot 'cope' with all the throttle. If I am overtaking using ALL the throttle is best .... One factor that your average car driver has a bit of trouble getting their heads round is just how jolly quickly even modestly powerful motorbikes can accelerate (I don't know if Speed...

One of my pet hates is tax payer funded organisations, Gov ministries etc refusing to speak to the people whose taxes they spend. You know the sort of thing, we get a lot of it on the Today programme on Radio 4 - "We ask for a comment from the Dept of Obfuscation but no one was available."...

In reality of course no road 'justifies' any camera, as it will never address the root cause of an accident since 'speeding' is never a root cause in the first place. Hmmm..... Well it could be argued that there is a sound logic behind the average speed cameras on the A537 Cat and Fiddle (assuming ...

Brake: • Life bans are implemented for life-threatening and life-taking drivers. This one caught my eye. For a start what will be judged life-threatening? - As a motorcyclist I'd judge anyone who says 'SMIDSY' - and who gets to choose what is and isn't 'life-threatening'? But of more concern is how ...

I don't dodge issues either.... It's a simple enough question that is being discussed. I'd just like your thoughts on this.... The mother of the dead child says he could have been save by a speed camera 'If there were speed cameras on Drove Road my son might still be alive. Instead he was killed by...

I also got a reply from my conservative local MP and he assured me a future conservative government would not impose any blanket NSL reduction....:) I fear it will be immaterial what a future Tory Gov would do. England's councils are reducing limits as quickly as they can get the signs up. With the...

I'm still trying to wrap my head round this one. For starters how did this Hamilton get to be a Judge? ""May I make it absolutely clear that had you been driving at 150mph you would have been going immediately to prison.....However, you were not driving at 150mph" So a judges job is t...

I've recently done my usual early Sunday morning Peak District run on my TDM and my recently rebuilt XS650. And honestly I enjoyed the XS more simply because of the blanket 50mph limit across the area. Goodness know how frustrating it would be on a sportbike. Probably 'very' given the speed I was ju...
