Right to the end, you couldn't bring yourself to answer a lot of my pertinent questions, such as, in particular, what you actually think is careless. I had already told you what I considered as careless driving, I can’t help the fact you didn’t realise you actually didn’t ask me for ‘any examples’ ...

JR, earlier on in this thread I almost had a bit of respect for you and your counter-argument attempts - didn't agree but at least thought you might be open for sensible discussion. However, as the debate progressed and your points were being defeated, you have revealed yourself as the typical trol...

Then answer this: is exceeding the speed limit, looking at a road sign and changing gear considered as ‘careless driving’? If not then what is the difference?" In my personal opinion, I would say that doing all three at the same time, certainly is careless driving. Like I said: I'm done :) Rig...

All the way through this thread the same underlying argument has been coming through. Not only should it not matter at what speed people drive, but it also shouldn't matter how they drive. You might not say it in as many words, but let's face it guys, that's the situation. Thats a pile of hogwash a...

I can't actually remember what the question was, [ ] but that certainly sounds like a nice cop-out from you........ errr no! I have already explained that your original first question (and those subsequent) were based on a straw man argument, not something you could counter. lol to you to dic...

Why not just answer the question? Because it is flawed and doesn’t add anything to the debate……… I can't actually remember what the question was, but that certainly sounds like a nice cop-out from you........ if that's not a valid question then do me a favour and just delete it. Okay, let me ask yo...

I'll ask it again as it seems to have been ignored by jr135. Perhaps, with your obviously superiour knowledge, you'd like to tell us all how it is driving safely when you're waving at a camera? How is this any different to you waving to someone you know as you drive down the street? Talk about nitp...

There are a lot of boy-racers in my area. I bet they too think that they can drive at speeds of 50 or 60 through residential areas perfectly safely. Do I detect a little ad hominem ? Oh for god's sake, can you not write a single post without talking about some debating point?! :D It's just the sort...

Well, having forced myself to read through this thread I'll say this much. It's very time-consuming for me as well. jr135 - you expect 'us' to condem this man's careless actions when many of us don't actually agree that his actions WERE ACTUALLY CARELESS. (based upon the evidence available) That's ...

[...]it seemed it me that no-one had actually condemned this person for careless driving. So I was doing so. Perhaps you and others would now like to actually condemn this person for careless driving. Not me. When I'm riding down the M40, I sometimes sit up and rest my left hand on the tank for a w...

What if we didn't have any laws on speed but we did on other motoring issues such as using a mobile phone whilst driving. He used his phone regularly but when he saw the police he then started waving it about and looking at them rather than concentrating on the road. Should we get rid of the police...

| ONCE AGAIN jr135, do you ride a motorcycle? EDIT: please do make an effort to use stacked quotes properly, it makes for much easier thread reading for everyone. | I know what a straw man argument is. But if you don't like what I said then let me say something different. What if this motorist didn't like the police either, and every time he saw a police officer he looked and waved at them. Should we get rid of the police as well? "Are you having a laugh?... |

I don't know which bit the jury thought was careless, but they convicted him of it. Nine times. I wasn't at the trial. However, just going on the small amount of information that is available in that article, perhaps the jury thought it was careless of him to concentrate on the speed camera instead...

I'm happy to admit that I do make mistakes, but I'm really not trolling. Let's face it, you simply want to drive at whatever speed you like and the "safe speed" argument used on this site is merely to provide some sort of justification for doing so. ha ha! Your comrade-in-arms has been ba...
