Two sightings in one day today! The first one was in a bus stop (good work guys, very considerate) on the A689 at Crosby Moor, looking down a long straight with no junctions apart from at either end, and the second was at the Sands in Brampton, tucked away at the side sniping at folk coming down the...

They were sat on the bridge just before Jct 42 of the M6 on Thursday morning, aiming at S/B traffic but parked above the N/B carriageway, presumably to be out of sight for as long as possible due to the long right hand curve that makes up that stretch. They were out on the A69 last weekend too, by t...

They were sat on the CNDR just after the end of the 2-lane bit near ASDA today, First time I've seen them there. I imagine it will prove to be a popular spot as it's the usual "shooting fish in a barrel" location.

They still often use the 4 "original" sites (which do have warning signs) between Jct 36 and Jct 40. I've also seen them on the second bridge after Jct 41 heading Northbound (obscured by the first bridge) and on the one above the M6 after Jct 44 where they always used to sit when it was th...

Google 'Moota' 'crash' then see who is ridiculous. I'm well aware that there have been a few accidents around the garden centre, what I feel is ridiculous is the double White lines that extend half the distance along the straight between the garden centre and the next corner as you head towards Car...

Tootling along the A595 for the first time in a little while on the way to Buttermere today I was disgusted to see the butchering they have done to the road around Moota. I can just about get on board with the right turn lanes and the traffic islands but which absurd individual decided to put double...

Alas, they are *definitely* still around - spotted a van lurking on a motorway bridge on the M6 Northbound after Jct 41 today, bunching all the traffic up just like they like. I honestly can't fathom why they think operating in locations like this where they have no warning signs is an appropriate a...

I see from the News and Star that 26 staff at CSCP have been issued with redundancy notices. No doubt this has been published in a last-ditch attempt to get a few small-minded folk to object so they can stay open but one would suspect this could be the beginning of the end for them. They certainly w...

Oh, and I wasn't surprised to see an accident at Milehouse unfortunately - that junction was an accident waiting to happen, though no doubt the camera van will park at the top of the preceeding climbing lane to maximise takings...

Well, I've been back living in Cumbria for a year now and loving our quieter roads. I must confess, I've not spotted any Cumbria talivans since June last year (on the A66), although a friend says he saw one on the A689 near Carlisle Airport recently :( I've heard that they now have a new fleet of va...

It was good to read Ernest Marsh's letter in today's "Cumberland News," sensible point of view being published for a change. I did note, though, that they accompanied it with a letter from CSCP's "glorious" leader quoting various rubbish statistics such as "we have 80% suppo...

With reference to my previous topic about the intended speed limit reduction on the A6 near Carlisle I was interested to read 2 very different points of view in the "letters" section of the local paper in recent weeks. Last week there was an excellent letter (albeit from an author who wish...

I see they've finally noticed what a rubbish year we had last year in Cumbria, only a few months late! What really annoys me about this story is the attitude of our local MP who seems to believe that "speeding" is the root cause of all these accidents when anyone vaguely interested in road...

I note from today's "Cumberland News" that the council intends to reduce the speed limit on the A6 between Carleton and Jct 42 of the M6 from NSL to 50mph (including the short DC section apparently), as well as creating a right-turn lane for Carlisle-bound traffic at the BP garage. While I...

Hi, First actual sighting of a "random" C"S"CP van? I saw the red one parked up in a layby on the eastbound side of the A66 near North Stainmore (shortly after Brough) this morning. Well, to be more exact I saw every oncoming car and van flashing their lights for a couple of mile...

Thanks for the replies. I appreciate that there has been some media coverage of this "roving cameras" idea, but would you not say it has been rather one-sided? I'd expect our local press to stick up for the local people, rather than what they are doing at the moment which is just printing ...

from cumberland-news corrected - S Hi, Sorry if the above link doesn't work: I'm not totally comfortable with how to insert website links yet :) Anyway, I must confess to having lurked on these forums for a while, but after reading the above article in the Cumberland News today I felt I had to write...
