I've just realised that i've been driving for 27 years, had 3 accidents (all non fault), and all 3 were in the last 6 years and at least partly caused by dangerous junctions. 2 happened at junctions where there was a light controlled left filter lane, but the lane did not give priority over oncoming...

I'm not sure if this is something you are aware of, although some of your replies have touched on it, but cars steer because of the braking effect of increased friction against the road when you turn the wheels. This is why low profile tyres give a better steering response, becaus the lower profile ...

In reply to Paul Smith i'd just like to say that i understand his point of view. Maybe the reason i disagree is that my work stops me viewing this debate impartially-i've seen too many lives ruined by uninsured drivers. The problem with a bias is that you can never recognise your own. However, we're...

Icando it wrote, Really? That is exactly what 'all the 18 year olds who currently buy 1 litre cars because they're cheap to insure, would buy the fastest they could afford and claims, and claim costs, would rise' read as. Icandoit wrote I don't think 'speed' has much to do with it either. Come to a ...

Malcolm W -based on the figures supplied by a major insurer (you will appreciate i can't name names as the information is possibly commercially sensitive), £1200 is the average cost of repairs to a vehicle involved in a 2 car accident. In a 2 car accident, generally one driver is at fault and one i...

safespeed said Nonsense. All problems should be solved as cheaply and as effectively as possible. You did understand that we're proposing that all drivers should be insured automatically funded from a levy on motor fuel didn't you? No one 'gets off'. Everyone has insurance, and we can claw back the...

Safespeed wrote I've been looking at this on and off for years now and I am quite sure that the battle against uninsured driving has been comprehensively lost. The only answer is to give up and move on to something that we CAN control. (bad driving / drunk driving / etc). OK, i'm new to this websit...

I think the idea of a fuel levy is a red herring. You only need to buy 1 gallon to drive your car through a bus queue-here's absolutely no relation between risk and payment. This would just encourage idiots to drive recklessly, because they wouldnt even risk a financial penalty when they bought thei...

I have seen a lot of posts about uninsured drivers, and as i spend a great deal of my time at work suing uninsured drivers, i thought i would share my opinions. 1. Uninsured drivers are extremely dangerous. I regularly encounter uninsured drivers who already have 5 or 6 court judgments against them ...
