Better version of the story here without a lot of the alarmist rubbish:

http://www.theregister.co.uk/2007/09/25 ... ment_sales

Still not good news at all, but not quite as bad as the Daily Wail would have you believe.

Jeez, got a case of the Mondays mate? There's only one thread on this whole board about it, it only has 17 posts and you were under no obligation to click and read it just so you could post to say you're fed up of reading about him; the thread is fairly clearly labelled!

Excellent, it's all falling apart! ACPO are alienating the camera partnerships with their ridiculous comments about hidden cameras, the DfT are alienating the police by attempting to finger them as the cause of camera madness, and everyone is alienating the public by being self-serving useless twunt...

Council "decriminalised" parking carries the full weight of the state against offenders, is legally enforcable, and is basically the criminal law under a different name. I suppose you could say that, but it's a law without a criminal penalty, and that's the important thing. Well, that and...

I think there's a bit of confusion between decriminalised parking enforcement and civil parking enforcement. Civil parking enforcement covers stuff like supermarket overstays, service station parking etc... These guys DO NOT need to stick a ticket on your car and often prosecute entirely via CCTV. B...

If this is true it's phenomenal, but it was pulled from the DM site a few days ago and nothing has hit the mainstream media since (well, there is a pretty little girl from a rich family missing, so I guess that has to trump everything for now  ): Hookers, spies, cases full of dollars...how BP ...

Strange, I've gone from group 19 to group 49, wonder how it all works.

Ugh, and so it begins, before the cards are even rolled out they're extending what they are intending to do with our biometric data. What's really scary though is if you look at the figures involved when it comes to the accuracy of computerised systems searching biometric data on this sort of scale:...

That should work on any bulletin board that accepts vbCode (or similar).

I watched this last night and the first thing I said to my missus was that she's not there for the money, she's there to get her URL and company on primetime TV for 15 minutes. It didn't surprise me in the least when she turned the offer down, I suspect she'd have turned down even a 10% stake offer....

Both petitions have jumped up now - I suspect they've simply disabled the realtime updates of frontpage names and totals to ease strain on an obviously strained database. I'd guess they'll be running periodic batch updates at quiet times rather than updating on each insert. Or at least that's what I...

This very similar petition failed to get much more than a canned "speed cameras work" response. Admittedly it only got just over a thousand signatures, but still, it shows they don't take these things too seriously: http://petitions.pm.gov.uk/NoSpeedCameras/ Now if we could get nigh on a m...
