| Radio 4 had a piece on the new proposals for variable speeding fines and points this morning, and the spokesman trotted out 2 old chesnuts One third of accidents are speed related 40% accident reduction at camera sites (though he generalised to areas I think) Anyone know how best to challenge these ... |

| Its not rubbish at all. There was a program on TV a while ago, surveying traffic flow on the M25. One thing they could show very clearly was the start of one of these - all it needed was the usual close driving in the outside lane, one car applies brakes, and from the bridge they were filming from y... |

| Yes that would be a good start, but would still produce biased figures, as anything closer to the average would tend to show less of a reduction than the extremes do they select. Best way, select the 1000 worst sites and use half as a control group, measure over next 12 months and compare. |
