Need to scrap the cameras completely, they have a negative effect on safety. Need to make the driving test harder, better training and on-going training and testing. Same as you do to use some types of machinery. Simply using a camera or even plod to issue fines and points will never work.

Thanks, I wasn't driving the busa powered car at the time otherwise it could have been higher ! Is it worth going to court to get to see the video or should I forget my rights and just pay up ? Just wondering if a car needs to be travelling for a set minimum distance or is a single snapshot sufficie...

What's the likely points/fine for this offence if it goes to court ? Are costs still in the £50 region ?

If it doesn't go to court, can the accused still obtain a copy of the evidence in video form ?

Interestingly I usually find that when the traffic is flowing well, 80-90 mph, there is less of this anti-social behaviour. It's when the overall rate slows to 50mph or so that it gets worse. I was on the M1 today and one lady hogging lane 2 really looked frightened to be on the motorway, I guess so...

The construction industry has got a poor health and safety record but given the work they do and the fact that there's a macho image of not wearing a hard hat etc, they do pretty well. I used to work for one and the time and effort that went into H&S was amazing - I've never come across another ...

I certainly find myself relaxing a bit more and listening to the radio when traffic is moving slowly. People also seem to bunch up more, maybe getting a warm feeling of safety from everybody moving at the same speed.
