You can only ping an IP address, http://www.safespeed.org.uk resolves to an IP address which is why it works. Don't think you can't ping a specific file, index.php is a file. Can I suggest trying to look at an image in a forum page and see if that comes up ... for instance http://www.safespeed.org.u... |

Hmmmm .... I think actually there is a fundamental problem with the question .. for different people the point may be completely different, so askimg what "the" point is seems a bit ummm .... pointless :D. Some ppl might buy one simply cos the next door neighbour has last years model and t... |

One that I had years ago sticks in my mind .... had a Triumph Herald with a slight water leak, going home from work one night, started engine then thought I'd best check the water before setting off. Opened bonnet removed radiator cap (engine still running), saw it did need water so topped it up. As... |

You can just copy and paste into excel from the original website ... highlight the bit you want to copy .. copy it ... paste it into excel .. it'll show up in correct colums .. saves all the dreamweaver fiddling about and should end up with the same result ... I think!! |

Rumbly, If you read the OP you will see that it was about a bully driver behind another driver travelling at 70mph in L2. Ummmm nope, I just read it and it doesn't invite any comments about the driver behind, only what the driver in L2 should do ... and the topic title is "Middle lane hoggers&... |

I have noticed a marked lack of enthusiasm here to condemn the bully driver; although not by everyone. Close to getting away without being challenged on this ... but don't open the champagne yet  As far as I'm aware this thread is about driving in the middle lane of a motorway, not the behavio... |

Without actually being in court during the case and knowing the stretch of road its difficult to come to any real conclusion if the punishment is fair or not. When was the last time anybody remembers a newspaper reporting much fairly or accurately? The "man keeps licence because two wives"... |

Transport for London are still dragging their heels on allowing motorbikes into bus lanes despite all the evidence shwoing it's safer all round - for cyclists, pedestrians and bikers... :x Nothing seems to be stopping them... I do believe there is an election for mayor of london coming up, if you h... |

I believe it has exactly the opposite effect in that it reduces peoples vigilance to anything much other than staying under the speed limit when knowiningl... |

Hmmm .. so according to your theory it would be just fine & dandy to have LGV's driving the NSL sections of the A9 at 30 - 35 MPH? |

I've not read every post in this thread, it's so very very long and time is so short, so s'cuse me if I'm repeating any old ground. IMO there are reasons why its a bad idea to unnecessarily drive in middle lane ... and COAST covers them nicely I think. Consideration & courtesy ... you are not be... |

Don't know much about PT Cruisers in particular but could be a case of screen pillar blind spot ... just had a thought about that .... do people who drive closer to the windscreen suffer worse from screen pillar blind spots, is bind spot worse due to angle of view and distance from pillar? It's a long single-carriageway road that in summer attracts heavy tourist traffic, including a high number of caravans, and sees a lot of overtaking accidents. The A82 is a road I regularly drive .... between Glasgow and Fort William. Yup overtaking accidents are all too common and often very serio... |

COAST is more or less the criteria we use to assess candidates on our own tests as well as the DIS/Speed Aware invitees  It should be part and parcel of all Bikeability to Driving Test requirements. Most certainly - it should be the main message out there as it does actually - er - control an... |

I'm writing this as someone who has run into a child who suddenly ran across the road right in front of my car. Fortunately in this case no serious injury resulted, but the impact was definitely hard enough to cause serious injury or even have killed the child dead on the spot, that this was not the... |

problem is the amount of setting up and policing it'd take. then when it's an official system with payments you have to think of liabilities in accidents etc etc etc. Car share schemes, like most things, need to be simple by nature Yes can see that insurance etc could be a problem. Hiya Anton, thank for your input. The swipe card could be stolen. Once in your car its too late. I went to court in portsmouth and the case before ours was a chap who uses any private car in Portsmouth as a taxi. All those required Criminal Records Bureau checks (in case children are carried) should put paid to this. I can imagine people being keen to get into a stranger's car, can't you? :) Yes can see this could be a problem but not sure its a deal breaker, could there be a way of minimising risk? Technic... |
