The question is then which manoeuvre has priority? A U-turn or an overtake, I'd probably go with the U-turn since it seems to be the case that the overtaker gives way to anyone else using the road Why not resit your driving test and try u-turning in front of another vehicle heading in the same dire... |

I will say that I get the impression that filtering is specifically about using one lane to advance in front of the cars in another lane (whether you do this on the right or on the left), I'm not sure about the legality of being in the same lane as the vehicles you're going past, or indeed in the o... |

Have a read of this http://www.motorbikestoday.com/news/Articles/filtering_law.htm in 2006, in Davis vs Schrogin, the [appeal court] judge found that, "a filtering motorcyclist passing stationary or very slow moving traffic could not be to blame if a collision occurred if the rider had no chanc... |

That's an unfortunate extension of the DSA's need to specify, in ever-increasing detail, every last bit of the content of the CBT syllabus. One of the exercises is walking with the bike and then applying the front brake. The instructor demonstrates what happens, at walking pace, if you use the front... |

Good to know. At the end of the day the bike can be fixed/replaced. Your bits are probably a bit more difficult to source. |

Some very good advice there from William. The only thing I would say is that, regardless of whether or not your insurance includes legal protection, you should get a specialist solicitor to act on your behalf. They are much more likely to understand why the other vehicle caused you to crash when the... |

Do you have the details of the vehicle that pulled out in front of you? Do the police?
I suggest you call one of the legal firms who advertise in the motorcycle press offering an uninsured loss recovery service - they'll tell you if you have a chance or not. |

BTW. My bike? KLV1000 (Same as VSTROM) Suits me cuz I got legs longer than a giraffe's neck. Ahem. If you're going to buy that engine why not get the original, and best, incarnation. The TL1000S. Cuz I'd rather not wrap myself around a lampost. ;) I'm sure you know the story about the han... |

New riders are generally told that the reason for the lower permisssable tread depth is that the tread is used to disperse water and the profile of bike tyres means that the water doesn't have as far to go, so less tread is needed. |

Can the lawyers in this forum tell us, if it is against the law to name a motor vehicle and not the driver? Is it against what law? In what context? Your question doesn't make sense without more detail. If your question is wrt to responding to a S172 request then yes, you have to name the driver. I... |

I regularly receive emails from colleagues who have clearly decided that a background that looks like your puppy has walked across the page is appropriate on company communication. I dread to think what they send to our customers/suppliers. They all also really like changing their sig so it's in dif... |

Quote: She told the court Mr Parkin 'must have been speeding' for her not to have seen him in her mirror coming up the road towards where she was pulling out. Do you think the rider would still be alive if she had opened her window and stuck her head out to look rather than relying on the mirror? I do. |

It doesn't make sense either. In the past six months nearly 2,000 drivers have been stopped for jumping red lights , 4,600 motorists have been caught by mobile safety cameras and nearly 20,000 have been captured by fixed cameras. Officers have caught 114 motorists as part of Operation Roadsafe, whic... |
