I don't think you can read more into indicators than an indication of the other driver's intentions. You absolutely can't assume that the indication was accurate, that you understood it correctly, and that the driver is going to follow through with the implied manoeuvre. For example, I've seen peopl...

Is that the coal fired power stations in China then? I believe they are opening one a week for the next decade or something equally astronomical. I remember reading that the growth is so fast that every two years the Chinese CO2 production will increase by an amount equal to the entire output from ...

Why were they written about in the crime section? There is no hint of a suspicion of a crime? Not by the ABD, certainly. The morality behind the man-made global warming conspiracy is highly questionable though, as is the exploitation of millions of drivers under the pretext of improving road safety...

Why should people be allowed to do anything that causes danger, if they don't need to? You don't need to go running, it is safer to walk. In fact that walk in the park is quite dangerous, you might twist your ankle or get mugged, better stay in the house. Don't put the telly on though, you might get...

wheres the justice in that? From what you say you've been charged with failing to take the breath test rather than being drunk, and the evidence that you failed to take the breath is pretty incontrovertible. It seems you were some way over the speed limit, and apparently marginally drunk. Without w...

I've never been asked to take a breath test so I have no idea how hard it is, but I would have thought they would revert to a blood test if you couldn't complete the breath test? I'm a tea-totaller when I'm driving because I know I have quite a low tolerance for alchohol. I'm not daft enough to expe...

I found out yesterday that a good friend of mine is in the habit of slipstreaming behind artics on the motorway because it's the only way that his under-powered camper van and trailer will get over 50 mph. For this to work he has to be extremely close, ten feet or so off the rear bumper of the truck...

I don't know if there is a standard way of pricing this up, but I bet the true cost is substantially higher than £60 a throw. Some proportion of cases will go to court, I don't know how much it costs to run a court but I would guess many hundreds of pounds an hour. People with point on their license...

I would say it's wrong and potentially dangerous for them to join into L2 in those circumstances, precisely because it makes their intentions ambiguous. I know a driver who was obviously far less competent than you who failed to cope with this situation and ended up rear-ending a moped rider in L2 a...

I don't agree that the spread is purely random but I would suggest it is highly random. Agreed - I think a dominant factor will be how frequently you drive past a speed camera. For example I very rarely drive past one, which probably explains why I've never picked up any points. If every inch of ro...

On a lot of modern A roads there's even a couple of feet of 'spare' tarmac to the left of a white edge line. I think I'd recommend crossing the edge line frequently (when safe to do so) - you don't want your subconscious to think of it as 'unavailable' space - and you can get substantial 'position ...

But, but, but, peripheral vision is always crap in terms of resolution (you can't read with it for example). The beauty of peripheral vision for drivers is that you pick up on movement - and you don't need good focus or good resolution for that. I won't pretend that eyesight as bad as mine is typic...

I think they should introduce a peripheral vision test as well, to make sure that headgear is not resulting in tunell vision. It's frightening to think of people driving around unable to see to the sides, but (apparently) fully legal because they can read a number plate right in front. There are so...
