Will you please read my original post. The 'victims' were following DIRECTLY BEHIND THE VEHICLE that slammed on, they were NOT cut in on. That's what I'm complaining about. The 'cut in and slam' cases are completely different. In most (read: almost all) manufactured incidents there are two vehicles...

People should be allowed to make their own judgement about what risks they take with their lives. Not only does this affect others lives (note: 75kg objects flying around at 30mph can be dangerous), but it affects society. It is society that has to bear the brunt of the death of a non-belt wearer. ...

Why do I have to produce evidence that the statements are false? If you point at a statement, and say it is wrong, you should say why it is wrong. At least provide a statement, that explains your position, how you see things, Your opinion. He didn't say the statement was wrong, he said These appear...

Child pedestrtians are only a problem due to the lack of duty of care by the parents When I was a kid I used to walk all the way home. Parents can't be expected to be with the child every moment they are near a road. As I said, my point was seperate from speed limits. The speed limit could be 90 mi...

It isn't about the speed limit though is it? Its about driving at the appropriate speed according the conditions. You claim drivers are good at doing this. If the BMJ report is accurate then most drivers don't seem to slow down a lot in the presence of child pedestrians. I can only see that meaning ...

On the other hand, if it's true research and applicable in the UK, how on earth do we manage not to kill 99.6% of the child pedestrians injured in built up areas? Maybe if people were slowing down due to child pedestrians there would less injuries to begin with? And likewise perhaps it would be 99....

I wouldn't trust insurance companies to decide who was "at fault" in an accident. It is not up to the Insurance company, it is up to the insured. If it cannot be resolved, then it goes to court. I'm afraid this is actually not true. Look at your policy documentation. Since the insurance company is ...

The police might say that any camera fake or otherwise posted at that location on a telegraph pole is a distraction. Other cameras, they would argue, are placed specifically to limit any distraction that might be caused. For example, there would have been no sign 200 yds previously warning of the 'd...

Could you tell us why you think that the arteries of the nation, through which the life blood of the economy is trying to flow, should be blocked by people wandering about the roads meandering between 20 and 30? The arteries of the nation are not 30mph speed limits. They are 60 and 70mph speed limi...

So what you are saying is on any given road at any given time there is a speed x, which is the maximum safe speed to travel at. In general, this maximum safe speed can be determined by observing drivers habits. The speed that the 85th percentile do not exceed is this maximum safe speed. Any driver w...

I'll give those a read after work. However I wasn't meaning that the speed limit itself changes someone's attentiveness, but if it is 'safe' (under the 85th percentile definition) to drive at 35 or below, someone who is abiding by this 'speed limit' is more attentive and has better reactions to emer...

You have stated before that driver attention differs at higher speed, based on the fact that he is doing something different so he has different motivations, so he must be thin... |

And that's where we have differed then. I am not saying here that speeding leads directly to accidents. What I am saying is that when an accident happens, the speed that you were going plays a huge role in deciding the outcome.
