Surely you would leave it till last because it's a blind spot check? If you look over your shoulder, then signal, wait a second and move over, someone could have got into the blind spot!

Isn't South Africa going to hell in a handcart though? In 20 years it'll probably look a lot like Zimbabwe (at least from the AIDS point of view). Largest by volume, yes; CO2 is much more potent as a greenhouse gas, however.

Along with a selection of other sensible motoring policies (more road construction, 80mph limit on motorways, removing the Dartford Toll etc.) this should be a vote-winner :)
