This is yet another E.U. directive which is being disguised as a "government initiative". It will happen, because it's already been decided by Brussels, so our provincial government in Westminster have no choice. What irks me more than anything about this kind of thing, is that they preten...

I too, am totally shocked and surprised by the news. I never had the privilege to meet Paul, but like many others I knew him from this forum, and from his seemingly ceaseless campaigning for a very worthy and forthright cause. I always saw him as someone with great integrity and wisdom. He will be s...

They also seem to be clutching at straws somewhat, or at least that is the general impression I get with Brake these days.

The only people to benefit from this latest piece of nonsense, would be the likes of Kwik Fit.

I have personal experience of taking a test in Florida..... on a supermarket car park. I jest not. I didn't really know what to expect before I got there. When it was my turn, I drove round for about 5 mins with the examiner. I was waiting for the point at which we would exit the car park and drive ...

It gives me no joy to read the retiring Chief Constable of Cumbria’s response to you...

Have you ever walked young children to school along a narrow pavement next to a road with no speed controls? Yes, every day in fact. My roadcraft is as good as it can be but that doesn't give me complete protection against poor drivers. Yup... and poor drivers are still poor drivers at 20mph. It do...

Less fear of traffic means more mothers being prepared to walk their kids to school instead of using the car for a journey that is probably less than a mile. Personally I always feel safe when walking on the pavement, no matter what speed the traffic is going at. Why not feel safe cycling two? I al...

They actually do this exact thing in the US. At night many intersections just show a flashing red-light, which means "Proceed with caution".

However, one does wonder why they didn't just elect to go to court and plead not guilty under S172(4).

Could it be ,that they don't want to remind the rest of us, that there is a valid defence in law?

All I can say is, practice, practice and then practice some more.

I also practiced with a trailer on a car, as it was a lot cheaper than paying for extra lessons.

Has your instructor taught you all about using the edges of your mirrors to line up on the cones?

America is a nation of fat lazy people that cannot drive manuals. Do you think they fret over what to do in traffic? Narr, they just rest one of their hefty feet on the brake untill the can move again.  The first car I looked at buying when I lived in the states, was a Camaro Z28 with a ...

I used to drive one of 4 autos, Peterbilt 377's with Allison HD4560P transmissions powered by 12.7 litre 60 series Detroits at 430hp. Once stopped, no matter how hard you pressed the throttle they wouldn't move with the parking brake applied. Just out of interest, I've been doing some experimenting...

Unless I know that I am going to be stopped for a long time, I nearly always leave the transmission in D at traffic lights. However, just out of sheer habit really (as I'm more used to driving HGV's these days), I normally slow to a crawl, about a truck length before the point I need to stop. So ver...
