| "Some questions that were designed to get the "right" answer as usual." Too right. 'Should we enforce speed limits where there is no accident history but where the speed limit is regularly broken?' or something similar. Doesn't that give you a clue that there may be more to accid... |

Didcot Parkway station car park was closed last Friday because of the flooding. I think the car park as okay, but those owners who had to collect cars once the car park was reopened were all left with a parking ticket.
When did we start employing cretins? |

| So we've spent years removing signs and trees etc that are close to the road and considered 'dangerous' and then they add these obviously way-too-sturdy camera posts. Iriots. |

| Careful now, you're advocating a strange thing called common sense. This is generally completely missing from council road departments, whose sole role in life seems to be to make life difficult for their customers. |

IIRC this piece of statistical garbage comes from the cobbling together of several completely dissimilar studies on speed in certain situations. Paul has it somewhere on this site.
On other words, it's complete bobbins, as the previous poster said. |

The lines were put there soon after the road was completed, which makes a mockery of the blackspots-only approach.
Many morning commuters pretty much ignore the 40mph limit.
Have I seen any accidents down there since the road was built? No. |

How about - 'I regularly drive above the limit because a greater and greater pecentage of the rural speed limits in Oxfordshire are a complete
joke and I take responsibility for my own actions.'
Sensibly set limits will engender respect; poorly set limits do not. |

I will have a word when the chance arises. He also gets as close as possible to the car in front when coming to a halt in a traff... |

That would do away with the ridiculous quota system (one would hope) Clearly there would need to be common standards but the companies could grade their tests dependent on the vehicle type, an... |

So there is no standard to which these indicators have to be set? Surely they should be set to trigger at, say, +1 MPH relative to the limit?
Seriously crying wolf will surely damage their credibility. (Or is that the idea from these Machiavelian (sp?) SCP scoundrels?) |

IIRC there is a chance that mobiles can affect the pump readings. Why they can't say that instead of using scrae tactics I'll never know.
Mind you, it's the same in hospitals; there are very few areas where the use of a mobile will cause any problems, but blanket bans are easier to impose? |

Why do these cretins try to hang statistical credibility onto such tiny sample sizes?
TBH, that comment probably applies to every camera site in the UK. None will have sample sizes for serious accidents that go far into double figures, surely? |
