I started this thread and I wish I could finish it. :( So much off topic I can't remember what the topic was now :? . (Note to admins IMO it would be a good idea if the thread starter wanted to close it then he should be allowed to but I know that's not going to happen for a variety of reasons I won...

Oh yeah and travelling at 20mph in a 20mph or even 20MPH in a 30 where you can only see 10 feet in front of you? We are talking a dry perfectly clear day not adverse weather conditions, isn't that what all speed limits based on? Sheeeshhh. I would suggest if had an accident while driving within the...

I repeat. It is legal to drive at 30mph on this road and you CAN NOT be prosecuted for doing so that is exceeding the speed limit. Of course I am aware of the offence of driving without due care and attention and dangerous driving but show me a road where the speed limit is 30mph and I would be pro...

To do 30MPH on this road is complete madness yet it is legal. No it's not, not if you have to drive dangerously to attain 30mph. It's not legal to drive a car dangerously, or with due care. I repeat. It is legal to drive at 30mph on this road and you CAN NOT be prosecuted for doing so that is excee...

Just one small point re registered mail for sending NIPs. There is no reason why they couldn't charge you for the registered mail that I know of which could be added to the fine if found guilty etc. OK so it won't guarantee the persons name on the NIP is the one who received it but it would add weig...

I am sorry but I think you couldnt be more wrong! 1. speed awareness courses are issued to drivers who were driving at safe speeds and do not need the education 2. drivers who have no idea of safe speeds are excluded from speed awareness couses 3 Drivers who actually have accidents are not generall...

Thanks Steve re the RTTM page. Interesting article and ads weight to the argument as to why we really have speed/safety cameras on many of our roads. Thanks for alerting me to it.

Hmmm, no comments or observations on my brief conversation with the course tutor then? I would have thought he weak ( IMO) answers to my questions would have brought some responses if only to agree with him. Oh well. |

I have been on my SAC and I have to say it was a pleasant surprise. However even though a lot of statistics were given out about road deaths and casualties etc etc etc they never at any time give any figures for those caused by excess speeding. The term " appropriate speed" was used often ...

Well I attended my SAC and I have to say it was quite good and I learnt a number of things. So all in all £60 SAC and no points was a licence saver for me. I did get to have a brief chat with one of the guys who was running the course and asked him a few questions. The gist of it and his his answer ...

When I look for insurance every year and they ask what mods I have I could fill 3 pages of A4 with them (and I do) however when I start to tell them ALL my mods including my special gear knob ( worth £120) they normally say "oh we are only concerned with performance mods" Now is going from...

Which was irrelevant ? He falsified his insurance information to obtain insurance at lower cost. A criminal offence. His insurance will almost certainly not pay anything more than third party liability, and maybe even not that. Any attempt to claim against his insurance leaves him open to prosecuti...

Thanks for all the replies so far (including the irrelevant information but which may help others I agree) BTW his guy is most certainly NOT my friend it was a one of chance meeting, unlikely to happen again. We just got talking as we both have fast cars and shared a common interest in cars. Thanks.

I was chatting with a fellow car enthusiast the other day I had never met before. We got talking about insurance and given he had a Subaru impreza and was less than 30 years old I enquired how much his insurance was. He declared he paid less than £450 for full comp. Given he was obviously quite youn...

I don’t know what you drive Flash but you may also consider changing your car at this stage, if you can. For the past year Ive had an old Polo which I’m happy to just plod along in. But when I use the Octavia at work, (or in my previous Mazda Sport), it gives a completely different sense of speed a...

Drivers caught breaking the speed limit buy 2 or 3 miles may get offered a SAC instead of prosecution. Somebody doing say 15MPH over the limit gets a summons, 3 points or more and a fine. The guy/women doing just a few miles over the limit due to a momentary lapse in concentration and who by and lar...
