Nice sound bite Claire - well said! Mrs. Mole and I have cancelled our AA membership. They're clearly not working for the interests of the motorist, so we went elsewhere. Hopefully, more motorists will do likewise as they cotton-on. |

I guess takings must be down then? I'm sure the "hiding in a horse box" technique was tried a few years ago by "the mad mullah of the traffic taliban" Brunstrom in North Wales. (That utopian haven of road safety which as a result of his "zero tolerance" policies ... |

Hi there, and welcome. I can't confirm with any certainty I'm afraid. I think if you haven't had anything through the post in a fortnight, you're probably safe though. If you haven't already done so, there's a site called pepipoo which has a fair bit of information on legal proceedings: http://www.p... |

Yes, they've been bought out by Horiba. As far as I know, the entrance is still off the A5 though. |

:gatso2: I think the problem is that these "helmet cam" cyclists are now deliberately goading pedestrians and motorists into reacting in much the same way as we've seen on the video. What they want is their little moment of YouTube moment and/or a nice, fat compo cheque. I'm sure there ar... |

If I was driving a car in the same position and a ped started to cross but stopped, I wouldn't give them the finger, would you? Why do cyclists always seem to be so aggressive to everyone else on the road? In fairness, it's not certain that she did "give him the finger" He says something ... |

He says something like "you want to put your finger up at me?!" just before he shoves her off. Did she make some rude gesture at him when she originally passed? (Not that it's any excuse to attack her, even if she did). |

You beat me to it! Yes, it's obviously been produced by a graduate of the University of the Bleedin' Obvious. Not only is it unsurprising, it should be EXPECTED that the people who undertake an activity most frequently are likely to have the most insight into it. I'm not sure I can think of any fiel... |

That's a good sentiment - but one that's incompatible with a desire to automatically presume fault on the part of one group or road users (or "humans") when involved in an accident with another group of road users, is it not? I support this strongly, and I drive. http://www.roadpeace.org/... |

I and a lot of other motorists Have you never ridden a bike? If you have, you're a motorist and a cyclist, just like me. In fact, you're a human being just like me. Let's leave it at that shall we and not try and further divide us to create conflict, which you appear to be trying to do. There is no... |

OK so as both I and the article suggest, we DO need a specific offence then? (Or probably more sensibly, the maximum penalty for the existing offence needs to be increased for the (mercifully) extremely rare occurences when it results in death or serious injury)? It's no good having a "points&q... |

If you were doing 15-20 in those conditions on a pushbike, so close to parked cars from between which a kid could run out (or indeed, a door get opened), I'd say you were traveling at an "inappropriate speed for the conditions". Yes, I wouldn't do it, or if I had to cycle in the lane I'd ... |

It's a fair point. He WASN'T driving. OK, he was the drivER and HAD BEEN driving, but wasn't at the time of the offence. Even if that one COULD have been argued, what about the case of a 4 door car where a rear seat passenger opens the offside rear door? (And they wouldn't even have a mirror to loo... |

It's illegal, but not dangerous driving: A gap in the law was highlighted in 2012 when Kenan Aydogdu was charged and tried for manslaughter in 2012 for the death of cyclist, Sam Harding, after he opened a car door into his path. Mr Aydogdu parked his car next to a bus lane which was shared by cycli... |

It would certainly be interesting to de-couple the fines from the points and see how enthusiastic the forces were about "safety".... What's your bet that if you could ONLY get points (and no fine) for speeding, none of this would be an issue? |
