My final word on the issue. I really do not care what Steve wants to believe or what he would like others to believe. I am at a loss, however, why he wants to post inaccurate stuff on a site he supports. Fine revenue goes to the Treasury - not the Police or the Council. Road safety grants were agree...

And before I bring the issue to a close. Steve - you believe the Councils use cameras to raise revenue in some way which they get back via the road safety grant. You have failed to explain why Swindon so clearly take the opposite view? They made it clear that they ditched their cameras becuase they ...

Steve – as you have failed to produce a single FPN or SAC offer that has been issued below 10%+2mph, I would now like to refer you to ACPO’s official policy on Speed Awareness Courses: http://www.acpo.police.uk/asp/policies/Data/National_speed_awareness_course_website.doc EXTRACT: Section 7 Other Co...

Still nothing to back up your false claim then Steve? Don't worry - I'm sure another Safespeeder will come to your rescue and produce a FPN for 31, 32, 33 or 34mph or an invite to attend a Speed Awareness Course due to an offence at 31, 32, 33 or 34mph. After which I will have to make a grovelling a...

Steve - So you can provide no evidence that SAC are offered below 35mph. No surprise there then, because they are not. Wildcat - you write: "BACK in 2003 though.. they WERE inviting to SAC at 33 mph und 34 mph. It was the fuss und protests made which led to redress of that particular SAC. Other...

Declaring that Councils see cameras as revenue raisers is exactly the same as suggesting the police get to keep revenue. There is no difference - neither have any incentive to place cameras. Swindon get Treasury money whether they place cameras or not - just like all other areas. Just back up youtr ...

ALL fine revenue goes to The Treasury, as you well know. So why does Claire - a self proclaimed expert - tell the press otherwise? I originally referred to the police as numberous posts throughout this site appear under the illusion that police place cameras to raise money for themselves. How can th...

I have nothing else to add on this issue. Except in answer to the claim that many people break the speed limit every day without ever doing any harm. Well, many youngters carry knives every day without ever hurting anybody. Is that okay?

Either she deliberately lied to Sky News or does not know very simple FACTS about camera use. Which is it? Either way she knows the truth ... |

This site is starting to amaze me for the amount of false information posted by people who really believe they are right but continally pass off ill informed myth as fact. Speed Awareness Courses kick in at EXACTLY the same point as fixed penalty tickets - at 10% + 2mph over the posted speed limit (...

Well - you've certainly given me some food for thought. Your suggestions are of course very welcome - but I should make clear that we DO NOT have a speeding/rat problem any more. The problem has been solved without the LA or traffic police, or indeed cameras. We have no intention of fixing something...

Steve – We are not afraid of traffic police. But we are aware that petty drivers who discover our methods may deliberately try to disrupt them, for example, by use of the horn at every blind bend, by using the route more frequently or indeed by speeding at every opportunity. We have had off the reco...

LD-01 – Your point about junctions / changing lanes is irrelevant. All drivers should be capable of performing such manoeuvres safely and within the law AND be able to drive at a safe speed within the limit. Drivers have a duty to comply with all traffic laws – not just those they agree with. Like y...

We had a similar rat running / speeding problem in our village. We have no street lights or pavements and a 30mph limit which was regularly ignored by the vast majority. As a driver myself, it is easy to spot the blatant speeders, and clearly these were the majority of vehicles passing through. Poli...
