Most people seems to be thinking of fairly drastic and wholesale changes. I don't believe that's right. Sorry Paul, I'm going to disagree with you on that one. The average standard of driving is just that - pretty average. Most people however think they are far better than they really are, and the ...

One thing that would help with this is a seperate test for motorways, to be taken at least six months after the first test, allowing people to get a few miles under their belt before being let loose on the motorways. M-ways may be the safest roads, but potentially they are the most dangerous, i.e. t...

Lunatic idea. The hard shoulder is absolutely essential to keep clear - except for emergencies only (as I explained yesterday to the guy I ticketed for stopping on the hard shoulder to use the phone....). Main reasons are - Emergency vehicles responding... In most situations, I tend to use the "mose...

OK, a view from this side of the fence.... ANPR is invaluable. Most people committing one motoring offence linked to being responsible for the vehicle commit other offences as well - for example, an untaxed car probably will be uninsured, without MOT, and quite possibly driven by a disqual / unlicen...

Thanks for the many replies to the original question. First off, let me say that I don't agree at all with the 40mph LGV limit. It's a recipe for frustration and with today's trucks, half of them can stop better than some cars. Maintenance is usually higher, and 90% of drivers are professional in th...

Paul - I don't wish to see a killjoy, but I'm getting a bit uncomfortable with this thread. One of the main reasons I (and possibly some colleagues on here) feel so comfortable with this site is it avoids the whole "lets stop them" mantra used by Captain Gatso, etc. The contents of this thread are g...

If you can do so safely, measure the distance the camera is "invisible" from. If it doesn't meet the guidelines, photograph it and write to Warwickshire's Chief Constable requesting it's removal. They will then have three options - remove the camera, remove the tree, or ignore you. It's unlikely som...

| And it’s good riddance to yobbos who make big slips all the time. No it isn't, that's the problem. | A question for all - especially the LGV lads on here. Perfectly safely driveable by a car at 60mph in right conditions. Large number o... |
