| Personal experience suggests that NIPs give 42mph as the magic potion to get nicked in a 30mph limit. I've never challenged the evidence. Fool as I am. As for the A515 tonight  Traffic was moving at a sensible 60mph+ speed tonight yet we still get a regular Audi A3 2.0D driver who drives at h... |

The implication is that the whole system of evidence gathering with regard to to motoring offences is flawed.
The police resources focus on detecting an individual offence while not getting on the streets to knock out crap driving. |

The seatbelt mechanism saved my life. Yes I did get hurt by the seatbelt, a considerable portion of my che... |

| No they don't use spinning magnets any more! All electronic I'm afraid. The most modern ones just take a speed pulse from the ABS sensors. Indicator telltales staying on for a bit is probably (on the most modern cars) a "CAN" or other multiplexed system. There is often a slight delay for ... |

"We did express our concern to Derbyshire County Council when they first proposed a reduction in the speed limit on the A515 from 60mph to 50mph. We felt this limit was unrealistic, bearing in mind that this is an old Roman road -... |

| My experience of modern cars is that substantial damping is applied to the needle on the speedo. I wouldn't really trust the measurement during acceleration or braking. I do not think speedometers in modern cars use the spinning magnet technique. Regularly I spot that the needle on my speedo ... |

The A515 50mph lollipops are on the "Long March" to Ashbourne.
Given that HGVs have been excused their limit (40mph) by the police for years I take it that sensibly there will be no enforcement of the granny limit on the A515.
If I get pulled I will be challenging at every level. |

| We've recently returned from a holiday in southern France. We didn't encounter a single speed camera, so we could concentrate on the road ahead without one eye on the speedo and the other scanning for cameras or talivans, and for the first time in ages, driving was actually a pleasure rather than a... |

Judging by the government jobs advertised in the professional rags I subscribe to it is because they can't hack a job in industry. |

| The A515/A5012 corridor from Buxton to Wirksworth has following resurfacing been subject to over zealous double white lining. I use that route most days in a car and I have to say that while some are reasonable others are quite legit for overtaking given the relative speed/performance of the vehicle... |

| Lets turn the question around - "how fast is unsafe" To one driver one speed is right, to another it is too fast.Problem is you cannot define a "too low" speed. | I am of the opinion that there is a natural ceiling as to the number of vehicles there will ever be on the roads, tied to population elligible to and capable of driving. Exactly. That is why the arguement for no new roads because it encourages more occupiers fails. Hazel Grove bypass now, please. |

I was trying to highlight an issue which I am challenged with daily on predominantly rural routes. I would argue the case for drivers b... |
