please can I ask? If it is so difficult for many people here to keep an eye on their speedometer how are you going to manage to stay below 56 mph? byny, Paul Smith suggested I read some of the information and reports on the safespeed website and I would suggest you do the same - It has really helpe...

I am on your side now I have read all the gumf from Paul Smith. Just wish the dickheads could be kept off the roads - hope the protest goes well - I am afraid I cannot be there however.

All the best

Decent driver training would be a good start-along with SENSIBLE awareness adverts- think bike, dont dazzle dip your headlights-all the stuff from the 60's 70's and 80's that disappeared. Promoting awareness of the consequences of your speed eg-are can you control your car if you have a puncture at...

You haveny answered my questions - how do you decide? I have always said I am not against more traffic police. But you have to have a speed limit which should be enforced more rigourously - 70 mph is enough Why exactly should it be enforced more rigorously? It was only introduced during the fuel cr...

As fred seems to be an 'experienced' possibly even 'advanced' driver. I have one question for him. If there were no speed limits on a road, how would he decide what the maximum safe speed was? and no helping from anyone else. I know how I would decide - the trouble is many drivers do not know their...

Trouble is it seems everyone thinks that they are perfect drivers - I am not disputing that you may well be a good driver capable of being in safe control of your car at 90, but what about the 17 year on the motorway for the first time. You simply cannot allow everyone to 'judge' what speed they th...

Fred... We want to know... what do you drive? A maestro - but what relavance is that? It is of great relavance,... simply that it indicates that you have correctly assesed that 70mph is perfectly fast enough. What you seem to have failed to realise, is that the vehicle you drive is one of the facto...

:gatso2: Hey Fred! We had best reincacerate all those women recently released because some eminent 'Government, Type-Approved Dickhead' said they had murdered their own babies must have been right, according to his 'cot-death theory'! Can't you grasp the notion that speed cameras may actually CAUSE...

judging by your comments, i would conclude that you would not be safe to drive any vehicle at that speed. not because of the vehicle but purely down to your own incapability to drive at such a speed. some drivers can easily handle a faster car than others. it is all down to training and experience a...

You didn't answer my question. Do you want safety or do you want legality? You get safety at 70 mph. I want legality by enforcing people to stick to it. Fred You don't in the fog. You don't when traffic stops. You don't in some older vehicles. You don't if the driver is drunk. You don't if the driv...

Fred, I am not against it, I am just against people breaking the law by speeding. And lots of people used to be against the idea of women being allowed to vote, too. Laws can be wrong, and they can be changed to make the world better for everyone. If you still believe all laws are sacred and unchal...

* 70 mph is a deadly speed (so's 30mph for that matter). * We trust drivers to slow way below the speed limit when necessary * Road safety entirely depends on this behaviour. * We're eroding and undermining the trust and the behaviour * More folk are dying as a result Precicely... What does it mean...

Fred, I have not read the whole of the thread, so I apologise if this has been covered but.. All we want to do here is reduce the number of KSI's on our roads, which are starting to increase, where they used to reduce. It seems that the current Govt think that by simply reducing speeds they can red...

I believe your question is about the laws being rigourously enforced, the answer to that is yes. Then you'd have no objection if they sentenced your mother to death for accidentally sticking a postage stamp on upside down then? Unfortunately my mother passed away 10 years ago, but if she were alaiv...
