Isn't this the same Tory Party that helped put out the 'Way Forward: Stop the War on Motorists' pamphlet that Bombus links to in his signature? Ironically, a floundering Labour government is the best hope for keeping motoring taxes down: when the Tories get the thumping mandate in 2010 that seems l...

I think we'll possibly notice a downturn in the number of accidents on new plastic bikes soon as the recession takes hold.Tarquin and Jocasta won't be able to afford to buy them new for a while.

Nowhere near as serious but probably a bit funnier, On the way to a bike rally in the early '90s with a bunch of mates I was hit on the throat by a bee-sting 1st.I Slammed the brakes on as hard as I could without anyone rear-ending me and frantically pulled my gloves and helmet off.I Pullled the sti...

To put it succinctly,

We're buggered aren't we. We need another party that actually reflects the views of the people and isn't a one trick pony.

I think the likely answer to the original question is they see Sixy in a pisspot and shades come past on a fairly loud matt black bike carrying a chain and quietly say to themselves'I think maybe I'll leave this one alone'...

The procedure I was told when I passed my test was as follows. When stationary have the left foot down and the right foot on the brake. This is the same as having the hand brake on in a car (sort of) When you are about to pull away put your right foot down, use your clutch to put the bike into firs...

No points since 1989 when I was stopped riding my 125 home after someone nicked the L plates.

Drive for a living, average about 75,000 miles a year.

4 isn't enough. IF you miss a car coming up to overtake OR the dimwit in the outside lane decides to change to the middle lane without looking then 4 flashes isn't enough for their reaction time to kick in. A lot of the time 5 isn't enough.

I quite like it on my VW van, as a little nudge causes sufficient winks to indicate an ordinary lane change. Only problem is remembering that other vehicles don't have this facility. What I don't like is the indicators on my father's 3-series, which don't stay in the left or right position: you pus...

Short of stopping at an angle across the road, I'm not sure what you really can do! Some people are just impatient idiots, and it will be thus until such time as policy changes to encourage better driving, rather than numerical adherance. Possibly - flagging car behind down - getting in centre of r...

It does worry me a little that should I scratch my ear at the wrong time it could be said that I was holding a phone. Mine stays in the pocket when driving and I will not answer or use the dam thing in the car unless the engine is switched off and I guess that it is fairly easy to prove by the call...
