assuming we are not talking local multi drop operations, have you considered asking a driver? being absolutely serious, if you ask a truck driver how far it is from point A to point B the answer will be in hours and minutes. most of us dont have a clue how far a journey is in miles but we are very a... |

haulage is a tricky business. if you charge too much you lose the business, charge too little and you lose your own business. thats why i am an employee rather than employer. the risk is too high for me. anyway, i have realised further potential to this plan if i can get enough support. placing indi... |

there lies the beauty of my strategy. although the protest is primarily against central government, because they are at local constituency offices you can bring up local issues. i am not restricting anything other than behaviour. i do not want my supporters being arrested but they are free to bring ... |

mitsubishi galant GDi. its a 2.4 petrol front wheel drive 4 door saloon running on 205/60/15s. the weight at the back would have been minimal. 1/4 of a tank of petrol, the boot was pretty much empty since i knew i needed access to the spare before i went to sort the first tyre out. sorry, there is a... |

i had a blow out on my rear axle yesterday (my second flat tyre in one morning :x ) and that is the first i have ever had while actually moving. my concern is the fact that i heard the strange noise of my alloy running at 40MPH but i didnt notice the reason until i stopped to investigate. why didnt ... |

if that were the case then we would have nothing to discuss here because all the effective solutions would already be in place |

I'm sure there has been time when seat belts have cost a life but I can't think of any situation where the force required by the belt to kill you would give you less of a chance of survival than being shot out of the car. funnily enough my ex was involved in a crash where she would have been killed... |

each crash is different. we have all heard of incidents where the seat belt has actually caused injury or even death so there is no possible way to determine a 'one size fits all' seatbelt that would save a life in every situation. to that end, i would suggest that the best way to save lives is to t... |

the law states that you must have access to a bunk or couch during a rest period but i am not aware of any specific sizes stated within the regulations. for a normal worker there may well be some kind of guidance but as with many things (apart from the smoking ban  ), they would probably exclu... |

i always whinge when adverts mention 'doing your bit to combat climate change' or anything similiar to that. its false advertising for the simple fact that we can not beat nature! |

yes it does. thats why i always sit just off the nearside line when i am being overtaken by another truck or the offside line if i am doing the overtaking. i tend to back off a couple of MPHs too rather than allow myself to sit with a truck next to me at full speed. i know it doesnt take much to 'ju... |

In Gear, you know as well as I do that it wont make the blindest bit of difference to road safety. Skid training (which includes learning how to avoid a skid) is the answer, not anti skid surfaces. People will skid on any surface and that is down to ignorance. They don't know the physics behind ski... |

what differences do you propose between the training stages? driving at 100MPH isnt much different to driving at 80MPH in principle and i cant imagine anyone here agreeing to speeds much beyond that on the public roads at any time anyway. yes, there are times where the roads are empty but i certainl... |

in this vein, i would look at restricting them by insurance group rather than engine size. a peugeot 306 1.8 used to be a group 5 when they were new. the strategy i am thinking along the lines of is a 2 part licence scheme instead. part 1 would be the current test ie basic car controls and highway c... |

i had a similiar one the other day. roundabout with 3 exits, 9, 12 and 3 oclock with 2 lanes approaching. i approached in the right hand lane with my right indicator on. the car in the left lane cut straight across my nose and turned right with no indicator at all. with both my window open and hers,... |
