Today, Nov. 11, 2011, we'll be upgrading two of the eight disks ... with larger disks.

It involves a short term loss of disk redundancy since all disk slots are full and we have to remove a drive to add a drive.

The period in which the disks are non-redundant will last only as long as the time it takes to re-mirror the data to the new disk, much like replacing a failed disk. It is a fairly routine procedure and unlikely to result in any problems.

You may notice a slight degradation of disk performance during the work if you have an e-hwVPS.
I am sorry for any and all inconvenience. Please let me know if you experience problems (all occasions).

They didn't say but they didn't expect any noticeable disruption but I like to warn people in case they do experience problems and wonder why. I'd also like to be notified of any problems so that I can report it back to them which can potentially help them insure that next time it is better organised. They do seem good but they are expensive IMO (£30ish / mth!).

From approximately 1:39AM to 2:10AM Pacific time (GMT -8:00) on January 2, 2012 our network experienced intermittent outages.

These were due to an outbound denial of service (DOS) attack from a customer VPS.

We have throttled the VPS to restore connectivity and will likely suspend it once we've had a chance to examine what was run within the VPS.
Apologies if any one has experienced problems.
