Are the several pcs that I use to access this forum the only ones where the page doesn't fit into the screen and I have to keep scrolling from left to right?

FWIW, even though I've got 1600 x 1200 capability, I keep my browser to 800 x 600 and there are times when a topic doesn't fit. This usually happens when someone posts either a long link or a wide graphic.

The mods try to hide any long links they spot, but obviously can't read every topic on the forums

Appreciated, and thanks - I was just trying to explain to the OP why some threads might require sidewards scrolling.

Its not the links. in my opinion its the google add to the right of the safe speed logo(which must be centre) as soon as you shrink the page untill the add touches the safespeed logo the scroll left right bar appears

You are mostly right. The ads/logo account detail is ~1037 pixels wide (probably username dependent). Long links and wide photos extend the required page width.

Example:

http://www.safespeed.org.uk/INVALID_LIN ... ered_legal

I'm sure a mod wil be along soon to edit my link :)

And if you're a Firefox user then the MR Tech's Link Wrapper extension can help ensure you're not bothered by the horizontal scroll bar as a result of someone posting a long link.. :D
