I see that a speed camera story has triggered a discussion at Manchester Online:

http://www.manchesteronline.co.uk/news/ ... _id=139183

Several posters have clearly failed to appreciate the care and integrity that goes into Safe Speed published figures and analysis.

It's very annoying indeed to be accused of falsehood when one is scrupulously honest and accurate. Grrr.

The "forum" seems work "manually" - some staff member adds received information as and when. We can't know if that includes editing or selection.

A fact of life; not everyone who comments on a topic is prepared to try and understand it to its fullest. Gut feelings and instinct are often sufficient 'evidence' upon which to base an opinion.
You could go on there and point the pro-camera posters to your website pages as you often do, I suspect most wouldn't bother reading it because they don't want to believe it.

You will have this problem with any subject. the human psyche is designed to form it's opinion by such 'gut feel' and then look for means (statistics/quotes/facts) to back up this opinion when challenged.

Don't ask me to quote a source where I got this from, it was some psychology book or other.
