I am sorting (trying to!) my friend's PC out but am struggling to pass my first hurdle. :x
The keyboard is playing up in that at first I thought it wasn't connecting as I couldn't get characters to appear but have discovered that if I hold a key down it will appear but only after around two seconds which is a touch slow even for me.
I have cleared spyware and general junk, defragged, tried seperate keyborad in same port and usb port, tried to update driver but am told there is no better and have also been into keyboard settings in Control Panel.
It's XP (SP1) and it has just had a LOT of Microsoft updates applied.
All else works fine it's just this. Anyone any ideas?

ps. I know I shouldn't have offered but vino is very persuasive.....

In Control Panel, open the Accessibility Options settings and check that Use FilterKeys isn't ticked
