Hahahahahahah :(

I don't know whether to :rotfl: or :hissyfit:

The fuel gauge on the replacement panel is working backwards, apparently the polarity was reversed on some later models...WHY FFS? Just to screw you around? :banghead:
Ahh well, at least it actually reads and the speedo is working; maybe one day I'll switch out the replecement one for the original, but for now I'll quit while I'm slightly ahead.

Could be it was engineered by some council accountant - just got a rent statement from my council ,and at the bottom ,by way of an explanation is the statement "a minus sign (-) indicates a credit value ) --FFS -what now.

Well on some clocks you could wind them back with an electric drill in reverse, but you won't be turning the digits by hand on anything (say) after mid 70's in any direction.

Well, I happened to have the dashboard from my 1996 Land Rover out the other day, and you can turn the digits either way fairly easily. Not sure how to rig it up to a drill though!
It's driven electronically presumably from the ECU? Send the right signals to it and you could probably make it go forwards at 200mph? Maybe faster?

Also, the fuel gauge was held on by, and connected to the circuit by, two screws. Very easy to get on and off.

I was referring to mechanical clocks, however you can turn the digits where you want but as soon as you turn the ignition back on they will record the correct mileage again (stepper motor).

As for having the speedo record 200mph to "clock" the mileage, it's perfectly possible although it's much easier to just type in (on the laptop) the mileage that you want it to show

Hi, first post having just found this forum, looking forward to having a browse around.

In the meantime...

my speedo does a similar thing ('99T Ghia X) and it affects the cruise control, but nothing else. My guess, therefore, is that my car's problem is either the speed sensor itself, or it's connection / wiring.

Any ideas?

Derek
