56 years after it was decided it was needed, the Bedford Bypass is nearing completion. The last single carriageway length of it.We have the most photogenic mayor though, always being photographed doing nothing

If they are using this system for direct and immediate action, then what is the purpose that they are to store all their images for 2yrs plus ?
They ought to be able to easily retain the last 5 mins and 'record to keep' when there is a 'flagged problem' as a minimum.
The sad truth seems to be that they are just doing whatever they choose and to 'heck' with our privacy or liberty.

It is appalling to say 'if you have nothing to fear then you have nothing to hide' - that is disgusting.
I have never given my permission to give up my privacy, because a police system is incompetent without being able to use a mass of camera's, instead of having Police on the streets doing their job properly in the first place.
Let's face it if the Police cars were on the streets then as seen in many of the CopShows would have the officers take immediate chase than, try and find through a camera network. Whilst I can agree they are a silent spy anyone who assumes that the real criminals are unaware of their presence, are fooling themselves.

It has nothing to do with "real" criminals and everything to do with data trawling for the sake of itself.
The "principles" of policing start with "prevention of crime".
They say nothing about meeting "pie-in-the-sky" targets to guarantee senior police officers fat bonuses.

Simple answer; ACPO.

Create their own policing policies, don't ask the government and provides millions of pounds to their members.

Mind you, most of the kids nowadays can't even spell Police State.

And Ladies & gents we now have the introduction of the NHS "Summary care record " system - we got our letters today - it's an opt OUT system , so unless you opt out those with access ( and the info tells us that only certain people will have this right - untill the system gets hacked/access info left on busses etc) will be able to view it . But read on and the information on how to opt out is hidden deeper and deeper .It's like those in control don't want us to be able to opt out .

You do not have to dig deep...HERE is the opt-out "form".
No matter that you opt out, your details will eventually find their way onto the database, although it will take a bit longer now that the maximum fine for data breaches is £500,000.
And no matter what the crap spouted is, the people who will immediately be able to view your details include the benefit agency and security agencies, with local council departments following closely behind.
Also, the system has already been criticised for inaccuracies, which makes it WORSE than useless as being treated for the wrong condition is worse than the doctors not knowing the patients history.

If I type my full name in Google followed by NHS you see my mug-shot complete with direct 'never to be used outside the Trust' NHS email, contact details and what side I dress on.
I don't like where it's going Image I'm wearing balaclava from now on...

Thanks Jo -did find it ,and already printed two copies off - having read about HMG databases ( and how even top secret data is lost) and having concerns as per your last sentance ,both me & mrs want out .i also have the feeling that if enough folk don't opt out/object -it'll be the first domino in the "OPT IN" SCHEME .
