:gatso2: Truckers are threatening a series of fuel protests on the run-up to the General Election. Check the details on:

www.topgear.com/content/news/stories/1645/

Incidentally, while I was writing this my ISP suddenly closed down and bombed my original post.

BIG BROTHER IS WATCHING YOU

Five minutes with me in a darkened room would have my mate Gordon Brown on the same wave length as me on fuel taxation. Don't believe the male bovine excrement about high oil prices. Sure oil is expensive, but there is 48.82 pence of duty on a litre of unleaded, plus VAT on top of that. Grrr

Just got back from the US today. Paid $2.30 a gallon. Up from $2.02 a couple of months back because of the crude price rise. They are in the process of passing an energy bill to alow drilling in Alaska to get the cost down with the fear of $3.00 on the horizon. Just goes to show what fuel SHOULD cost. And that is with their version of fuel duty applied.

I too am fully aware of what fuel should cost Gizmo me old mucka, and I know full well we are being bent over and royally f*cked by our so called peers.
I regularly buy red diesel and pay the princely sum of 42p per litre (£1.91 per gallon), this price does still include duty (although considerably less than road fuel) & VAT at 17½ %.

Strange....I fill up at least twice a week. Went through the protests last year without too many problems (I did use the bike a couple of times when LRP petrol was the only stuff available). When I did que on a couple of occasions I ever saw a fight, never saw a policeman. Maybe there are more law abiding in the Midlands....

Power to the people... :D

The amount of those that I could have got in to during the last protest when I used to drive straight past the queue and head for the vacant pump that was 4* only

Last time it was like bloody Alton Towers, we were telling people how long on average they would have to queue. The look on faces when you said 2 hours was ghastly :hissyfit:
