Six months after I had an accident, 3rd party drove into my nearside front wing (T-bone), I have still been unable to get their insurance details!

She refused to hand over her details on the phone, the insurance company cant get them from her ("very rude woman"), the legal claims company cant get them and the police? Well they arent really interested as no-one was injured. I thought there was a legal requirement to provide details when involved in an accident.

I have reported this person to the police as being a potentially unisured person driving around, etc DESPITE searching the database not finding any insurance details and the reg number allocated to a different make/model of car!!! Still not interested :x

Now I expect if this person was to speed they would be there in a shot....

Send her a recorded letter telling her that you will be suing her in the county court for the recovery of your losses - car repairs, hire car costs etc etc. As it was her fault, you don't need to use your insurance company - you can opt to do it yourself. I suspect she may then forward this to her insurer - or possibly call your bluff - in which case set your lawyer onto it! She will lose in the end.

Seems odd, i currently face a custodial sentence for so-called dangerous driving in a case where no damage was done and no-one was injured, i also didnt stop (see the RTA regs reguarding what defines and accident and, therefore whether or not to stop)!

The police will act if its easy, if it means work, no chance!
