American companies at the moment are getting away with patenting things that have been in general use for years and getting away with it. It seems that you do not have to have invented anything to get a patent granted yo just need to be the first to apply! look at this one...

Basicly means that Cingular (a US mobile phone company) will own :) :( :lol: :oops: :x :? :o :wink: :roll: :twisted: :cry:

It could then force every mobile operator to pay it a licence (we end up paying) to use them!
