I wonder if someone has a foot fetish (Ugg Boots) or more recently they seem desperate to clog up the entire internet with spam ? Perhaps they are trying to break a World Record? !

Below is another I don't get. I've moved it into here and the user has been disabled.

Why do exactly the same thing in so many different forums? Is this to check for some sort of defensive weakness?

Automated systems do not recognise when they've hit one forum or another, they just look for the parameters coded such as the html for a post button. I suppose, with good moderators who know how to block IP address ranges, the spammers would also want to hit as many threads as possible in the hope that someone will follow the link.

At least, that's how I'd code it :bunker:

I don’t know how it gets through our safe network but I keep getting posts at work for Viagra.

How ridiculous!

As if I need that :P

Whenever I get a email trying to sell me Viagra, I start frantically searching for hidden webcams in our bedroom.

Spammers just aren't trying any more...

(I Googled the exact wording of the line starting "My name is...", 9940 hits for the last 4 days certainly suggests a spammer)

I was amused greatly by this last one - and impressed at the extra lengths gone to with the invitation for the moderator to move.. hence my response post!

It seemed to me that this one was not an automated bot... not sure how anyone could tell for certain though! :whome:

* Johnny's serious moment: your bank will never send you an email with a clickable link in it, and never ask you to enter your details into an online form.
A good way of proving the link is fake is to right click on it and click properties. Invariably the web address (despite the link saying "www.natwest.co.uk/login" or whatever) will be something completely unrelated to the bank invloved, like http:/www.dogydomainski.ru/natwest.
That's interesting and good to know thanks. :)

Are https links still as safe and secure as they purport to be? I must admit, in the past when I have been directed to a link with an 's' at the end I've almost been ready to tell them anything.

Hi,

I'm a 26 yr previous man.

I am presently addicted to marijuana and have already been smoking for ten a long time.

I also have other personal problems that I'd prefer to produce and judging by the top quality from the posts I've study right here thus far, I am optimistic this could be a great location to invest a while gathering facts and feedback.

I have no notion how to bring pals but when you've got conquer a marijuana addiction and can be prepared to assist, please bring me.
See you all around.

Oh she reads the forum - then if Greenshed posts, she telephones her friends to share the joke!

I'm guessing the previous man will be the latest topic of humour - isn't that Pete Burns?
