The Dutch paper Der Standard of 20 February reported that the average density of car ownership across the EU 27 is currently 482 cars per 1,000 inhabitants. While the UK figure quoted as 476 per 1,000 falls below the EU average, car density figures vary widely from one EU member state to another, and are not correlated only with the average wealth of their inhabitants.
